Sky+ HD Box - Need to Revalidate Viewing Card: But Sky Website Isn't Presenting the Option

Hi. I've been trying to revalidate my viewing card against my Sky+ HD box via the Sky website - but to no avail. (There was no satellite signal to the box for over a month).

The error message on the box points to sky.com/quickfix (which doesn't load on many occasions). When it does eventually load, the instructions just repoint me to the same page over and over, leaving me going round in circles, but never actually getting to a validate option for the veiwing card.

 

The instructions point to

 

https://activatemychannels.sky.com/activate

 

...which redirects to:

 

https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-viewing-card-help-activate

 

...taking you back to the page you started from.

If your Sky box is connected to the Internet, you could try a New Install. Otherwise you'll have to call. 

 

It's no longer possible to pair a Viewing Card with a different box, which may be why the online functionality no longer allows pairing.

The Sky website provides a page of instructions to revalidate the viewing card:

 

https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-viewing-card-help-activate-plus

 

But the instructions loop round to the start of the help process again.

 

My issue is caused by the box losing signal for a month. It's the same viewing card/box combination as before. It just needs revalidated.

Yep, while I get that it doesn't apply in your case, I suspect the reason why the website loops is because of the new policy about Viewing Card pairing. 

 

I don't think you can pair online any more, even where you're trying to re-pair to the same box (somebody will correct me if they know differently).

 

A New Install might work, otherwise, it's a call to the best of my knowledge. Be wary of advisers telling you the only option is to upgrade to Sky Q/Stream.

A very poor user experience on the website.

 

Re trying to flog Sky Q/Stream - that's precisely why I'm trying to avoid calling them. Not interested in upgrading at this time. The issue with the instructions on the website is probably deliberate, to force a phone call, and the inevitable marketing of their latest and greatest offers.

A new install does work, I have tested this just after the pairing was removed. as my box is turned off most of the time
