I've just been told my bill is going up yet again and I've had enough. Are there any decent alternative options available? All I want is Eurosport, freeview or similar, and the ability to record. I would go online only but my broadband isn't really fast enough. What can I do?

Freeview / Freesat and recording is easy through buying an appropriate box, but as @Mark39 indicates Eurosport isn't carried on either of those platforms, so if you don't have the bandwidth for getting it online, only Sky by satellite is an option.

After a lot of confusing research I think the Humax Aura can get the Discovery/Eurosport app, but I understand that it can only record off the TV channels, not any apps. Anyone know if that's true?
The only thing keeping me at Sky is Eurosport, if I lived somewhere else I could get everything I want for just £7 a month instead of £50+. Maybe moving house would be cheaper lol.

So you can't download slowly and watch it later then? That would be my only option.
Thanks for all the help guys, I used to be up on tech stuff but I'm about 10 years out of date now.

That's how Sky boxes manage with poor broadband speed. To my knowledge, other devices simply stream so you need broadband speed sufficient to accommodate it.

As @Mark39 indicates, that only works for on-demand content requested from a Sky user interface and served to a Sky box with a Sky subscription.
