"Hopefully Sky have locked all SD box subscribers so they can't add anything unless they upgrade." charming thats not very nice lol I was referring to the kids pack which includes SD channels not the sky kids channel which you say is HD only
The non HD boxes will be almost completely useless when Sky have changed all their channels to DVB-S2 - they simply won't be able to receive almost all the paid for channels.
So continuing to charge a subscription for them when the paying customer can't get most of the content in that subscription is borderline unethical.

I personally think it depends what you use your subscription for and if you can still get the channels you use at the price and use the equipment your happy even if thats on a SD box I cant see the problem

You'd be paying £30 a month to view a tiny number of subscription channels after August though - no BBC or Sky channels at all (pretty much only some UKTV and Discovery group channels).
It's highly likely many of the other broadcasters will switch to DVB-S2 sooner rather than later too as it'll save them money, being a more efficient transmission method.

Hi
i have 2 Sky + HD boxes (had them since December 2012). I keep seeing news articles about sky shutting older boxes down.
I think it only applies to older SD boxes
But I am not sure and really confused by the different things I read.
i appreciate the boxes can no longer be updated

You are right it does apply to SD boxes only and any sites that say otherwise are wrong as you can read about from Sky via the article:
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-channel-upgrade
This means if you have an SD box, you'll need to upgrade to continue watching Sky channels

I have heard that people with older SKY. TV boxes, are going to lose tv channels. As SKY will delete its channels in 120 days. Is this true?? and how do I know if it will affect me??

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreIf this is something you've seen on GB News it's incorrect. Channels will only be affected by customers with SD only boxes.

This applies to SD boxes only so if you go to 105 and it is Channel 5 HD then you have a HD box so you will have no issues as it does not apply to you.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Ghost4 If you have a sky +hd box and are able to watch channel 5 in hd on 105, you won't be affected
So check if you can view channel 5 in hd first to confirm if you have the right box
only older non hd sky plus boxes are losing channels
