SC201 wireless adapter (on Sky+HD box) does not "auto connect" after power cuts

I Have a Sky+HD box that uses a SC201 wireless adapter to connect to the internet.

When it is all set up it works just fine.

However, if it loses the Wi-Fi signal, due to power cuts (we get them often) it does not "auto connect".
We have to go through the manual settings = "search for networks" -> enter the (long) Wi-Fi password -> wait a minute -> then it works.
All other "devices" (phones etc) reconnect automatically, but not this SC201 adapter.

Any thoughts folks ?

Are you pressing the coloured button to save the settings after you enter them, iirc it's the green button?

I think you're using hardware which must be over ten years old, and which is consequently not entirely reliable.

There are numerous SC201s on eBay for a few pounds if you wanted to test that aspect of the setup.

Alternatively, given the vintage of the 'on demand adapter', it may simply be allergic to what's probably a much more recent internet router.

@Ghost123uk

One possible workaround might be to attach an older single-band wireless access point (802.11n) to your router and then teach the SC201 the password for that.
