Thanks for your reply. So basically today I've added sky sports at an extra £22 a month tied into a 24 month contract and because I have a sky+ box, I am unable to access the red button facility to watch the games of my choosing. If this is the case, sky better cancel today's upgrade.

You can watch them on a mobile or tablet on the Sky Sports App or switch to Sky Q.

This is so annoying. My father is 98 and enjoys watching football, in particular he is a Huddersfield Town supporter like all the family. He has a standard Sky HD box so as I understand it he won't be able to watch Town each week. He struggles with technology and can't watch on a mobile app and wouldn't be able to operate Sky Q. Well done Sky for yet again putting profit ahead of customer service.

Tbf, before this new system he wouldn't have been able to watch Huddersfield games either as they wouldn't have been televised.

So I have now discovered that the new EFL streaming options are not available to SkyHD box despite the fact that i am paying for the full sky sports package. I can watch on my ipad but i cannot patch the game onto my TV.
Do i need to upgrade my box?

Simply because your Sky box is not compatible with apps.

This is a very poor move from Sky. I have to have Sky plus as Sky Q doesn't support a magic eye and all my Sky stuff was fitted in another room. So unless I have everything moved and have to have the walls destroyed as all cables were plastered into this room then the promises of all EFL matches is a hollow promise. I am in my 80's and rely on Sky to fill the hours in my day. They don't care about us. When will they improve the Sky Q box to work with a magic eye? Or bring out a new and more modern box that works for all

There won't be major changes to Sky Q boxes as unfortunately the end of broadcasting via satellite is only 4+ years away. Comcast are prioritising Stream as the way forward.

I live right in the country. My broadband is 2.5 m at its best. If I want to stream I have to degrade the picture to its worst. So much for progress

Ouch, that's poor. An HDMI over coax modulator might be a possible solution enabling you to have Sky Q and use your existing magic eye cable setup. They depend on you having a TV capable of receiving HD broadcasts, but would give you the additional benefit of an HD picture and stereo sound, rather than the analogue picture and mono sound your current setup provides.
