Pairing existing subscription card with new digi box

We have received a new sky box, but cannot pair the remote to the new box. 
we purchased it from a independent retailer and need the viewing card paired. 
but we cannot get onto the screen where it gives us the information to do so as the remote doesn't work sync to the tv??

Is it a Sky+ box you have ?

@Gina04 ypu don't need to be on any particular screen to link your Sky+ remote with your TV. You don't even need your Sky box or tv turned on.

Followed all of this and it doesn't work still repeated it a number of times, would it be to do with the version of remote we have? It's a old model

You can link any remote from Rev4 onwards. What happens when you try to programme the remote? Does the red LED in the remote end flash? Did you find your TV model in the list provided by Sky?

@Gina04  A Sky+HD box doesn't need you to pair a remote to the box, you should be able to use your original Sky remote if you didn't get one with the box.

Which model of DRX890 is it or is it a DRX895?
