Pairing a viewing card with a second hand Sky+ HD box

Good afternoon.

My Sky+ HD box stopped recording and the TV guide doesn't function.
I have given notice to terminate my contract and have been contacted by Sky with a new deal I might accept as long as I can still use through Sky+HD as the house is wired for it and I like the accessibility.
Advisor yesterday told me if I could find a new/second hand box and swap the viewing card over I can continue as before.
Have swapped the card into the new box and all free channels are working but not Sky Sports etc.  Went through a few prompts and it says the request was successful and the channels will be available shortly but that was two hours ago. CP04 is message on screen. Any thoughts on how to resolve? Spoke to an overseas Sky technical support person that was not helpful.

hi @JB141

We believe that you have been advised incorrectly.

SKY stopped allowing any cards to be paired with any boxes they were not paired with in October 2024.

I am not aware that that advisers  can overide this but as customers we don't know for sure

It's not possible to pair your Viewing Card with a replacement box, I'm afraid. You were misinformed.

@JB141  What you have been told is completely wrong

as of end October 24 you can no longer pair viewing cards to replacement boxes the cards are permanently locked to the last box it was paired to

your only option to continue viewing sky services is to upgrade to one of sky's current tv products sky Q glass or stream

Ironically it was the retention team that gave me that advice!

What error messages are you seeing amd what's happening with the TV Guide? Both faults could be the result of a signal problem,,  rather than a box issue
