Pair working card to different 2nd hand box

Hi all just wasted so much time trying to pair my working viewing card to a box I was given by someone who had upgraded/moved from Sky. Followed the online guide doing the software update then following the process according to the Web page and this just puts you into a loop of updating the box = failed

Then tried the telephone support and it asked for viewing card number and serial but never the reciever ID it seemed like it was going to complete until I got to the stage of confirming customer  password on the account as I did not know this only the online account which I tried but then the call got intercepted by a CS representative. Now the fun started with trying to force me into sky Q when just wanted to pair my old card with the different box. CS couldn't do it nor could backend staff seemed like they didn't understand what I wanted! They then explained that only original viewing card would work with the 2nd hand box which I don't have that card. After much waiting they are adamant that they cannot do it, and are sending a new card to pair to 2md hand box which is exactly what we are trying to do. Shocking service anyone got any links to online form to achieve what I want or got any advice.

@Scoobydo1 From 29th October sky removed the ability to pair viewing cards to replacement boxes

viewing cards are now locked to the last box it was paired too

you will need to call sky and discuss your options regarding upgrading to one of sky’s current tv products to continue to receive sky tv services

@Scoobydo1

Any viewing card that arrives (and one shouldn't be dispatched) will not work due to the explanation provided by @SKY1992bf

Re: Pair working card to different 2nd hand box

Thanks for the quick replies, pity Sky employees cannot explain that it has changed recently. So if I was to get a box from Ebay that has ots original card then that could be done?

@Scoobydo1 the bottom line, I'm afraid, is that if your Sky box has failed, you can no longer replace it and will need to look at other options.

Re: Pair working card to different 2nd hand box

There should be a formal announcement that cards can't be paired to replacement boxes... OR at very least Sky CSs all levels should know and inform customers🤔
