Re: On demand download failure Sky+ on 2 boxes

And when you press NETWORK button it says

Connection to broadband router        OK

Connection to On Demand                    OK

but still does not work

Re: On demand download failure Sky+ on 2 boxes

Found the page and only thing that is different is

IP adress of this sky box

its the same as yours but last 3 digits different which must apply to my box rather than yours

everything else is the same

so still confused

DOES NOT seem to be the solution

Re: On demand download failure Sky+ on 2 boxes

Could It be that our Sky HD boxes are just outdated and that's why they are not downloading

sky Channels ???
If that is the case why are Sky not just saying this instead of putting us through all this agro

@Ccdb It's only affecting a small percentage of Sky+HD setups. Seemingly centered around ISP/Router setups.

Two posters higher up in the thread recently changed ISP and/or router. One who previously had the problem, no longer did and the other who had never had an issue, suddenly did.

Though finding a pattern amongst those affected appears problematic.

HAS ANYONE tried buying a new router or is that just a waste of time producing the same result.  I will happily buy one if that will solve the problem.

I didn't buy a new router but found that changing to a different one seemed to work, see Here

All Sky+ HD boxes are 'outdated' : it's an end of life software platform running on hardware last manufactured eight years ago.

Re: On demand download failure Sky+ on 2 boxes

It's been a problem for me for at least a month but can't be sure when it was first an issue. We're on a Jersey internet provider so not BT or Sky etc. Have tried the fixes suggested on these threads but nothing works.

  • Ultimately taking on the free sky Q option is the obvious 'fix' but the fact that all of us on here are choosing to retain hd tells you how bad the new system is. Cable boxes have always been cheap terrible tech but it's amazing that they managed to make Q such a step backwards, less user-friendly and generally a worse operating system.

Q has been around since early 2016 and now makes up something like 80% of the Sky satellite television market, so it's not exactly 'new'.  It's also not a 'cable box'.

Re: On demand download failure Sky+ on 2 boxes

It might not be 'new' but it's still 'new(er)' than Sky+ and it's clear that's what was meant.

The logic of SkyQ UI is definitely more clumsy than Sky+, just dressed up to a be a bit easier on the eye and fool the average customer into believing that it's better.  Remember... 'Believe In Better' 😂

Q is the newer system, irrespective of it's date of birth, and the point is it isn't an obvious upgrade to the extent users here are unable to download on HD but would rather sit it out than take on the NEWER system?

Perhaps you had something more useful to add to maybe persuade some of us (on behalf of sky) why we should just go with Q, despite the really poor operating system?

Granted it isn't cable, but the point was all sat and cable boxes have generally been poor, unless you know better on that one too?

Re: On demand download failure Sky+ on 2 boxes

A significant point I'll be taking away from this is the abysmal official communication during this event. Sky are mostly relying on the goodwill of volunteers on here to keep those  'few' affected at arms reach. Only a fraction of people experiencing these issues will reach out to this community group, others will simply take varying levels of 'engineer' advice (upgrade with new contract or be left dangling).

It's just poor.

Whoever it is who keeps deleting replies to this thread, please stop.  There have been no breaches of T&Cs, it just seems like some fragile egos have been shaken.

Hi Everyone

We welcome healthy debate from all angles, however we won't accept personal attacks or name calling. Such posts will be removed and the poster warned about their behaviour.  We're all adults here and whilst I accept this problem has been going on for quite some time and the frustrations that come with this, such behaviour doesn't help anyone.
