I ordered a Sky Q box pre lockdown but the engineer was unable to install it as the flats in live in do not have the correct server (or something along those lines) I was told to contact the owner of the flats - anyway we went in to lockdown so I've carried on using my SKy + box - anyway my sky + box now says "viewing card not authorised/earlier today it said not paired "
my online account states I have a sky q box (but this has not been installed as yet) so I can't pair the sky + box using the activate my channels link ...as it keeps taking me to the sky q box link - anyone any ideas? Thank you in advance!

Ok I don't know if I've been classed as high risk or not, But i am Diabetic and infections of any sort can cause lots of bad things. I'm not sure that this should make any difference Everyone who is paying a lot of money for the service should be able to receive it. Sky must know things have gone badly wrong and should get it sorted with out US haveing to chase them, They have caused this.
Back in January I was talked into upgrading to Sky Q. New card arrived, Man came out looked at house garden and wireing. Wires wrong need replacing can't get to the dish. Went away. He phoned sky They rang me.
WE agreed to to put off instalation until I could get things cleared. Yesterday my my very old SKY BOX (NOT sky + or sky q) stoped working I am now getting: For Your Information:
my original card
This viewing card is not authorised Call the broadcaster for assitance.
the new Q card
This is the wrong card for this set top box insert the correct sky viewing card.
call ( number) for assitance.
What gets me as well is the only number I can find at the moment is an 08 number which I beleave is a premium rate number.

You are a superstar and thank you for (a) finally repsonding to my frustration, (b) dealing so professionally with my technical issues and looking into the issues and (c) for finally resolving the matter. it says that the viewing card is not authorised and the channel doesn't load up. I think it says contact the online help. I've tried to follow all the steps, resetting and updating sky+ box, repairing card etc

We have been waiting for the installation of Sky Q which will replace our Sky +. Due to covid the installation has been postponed. We have however received a replacement viewing card which we haven't done anything with, assuming it is for the replacement Sky Q box when it is installed.
We have since been watching Sky + as normal and it has been working fine, as expected. However, over the last few days we have been receiving error messages when trying to watch recordings from our planner on our Sky + box. How can we rectify this please? We have put the replacement card into the Sky + box and followed the online instructions to activate it but it states only to add the card into a Sky Q box which of course we can't do as we don't have one yet. Any help would be appreciated as this is of course incredibly frustrating.

I had this problem - I am waiting for my sky q box to be installed - but still using the hd box - I put in my card for the sky q box into the hd box - but it was not paired - Whilst I could watch live tv - cd not download catch up/record - I found websites that recommended you go to the rebuild section on services - I followed the Instructions and now works!
