Posted by a Sky employeeHi everyone, if you are receiving the On Screen Message 'Viewing Card not Authorised' we would assume this is being caused by a previous order for Sky Q and your viewing card had been replaced.
A replacement viewing card would have been sent anytime between January and now and you would need to insert this into your current Sky+ box.
After this has been inserted it should update and automatically pair with your box, alternatively you may need to follow the on screen instructions for a manual pair.
If you no longer have the replacement viewing card you will require a replacement.
Please note we are prioritising our phone lines for key workers and our vulnerable customers at this time.

Just turned sky back over after watching a recording on planner, all my sky channels saying 'this viewing card not authorised please insert a new one if i have one!'
sky box upstairs still works fine on all channels.
Getting really **bleep**ed off with sky at the moment, 1 problem after another since Nov!!

Or via the MySky app - Manage Account > TV > TV Settings > Activate.
Or via Sky box:
Make sure your Sky viewing card is correctly inserted into the box.
Press Services on your Sky remote
Press 0, 0, 1, Select (setup should now be highlighted)
Scroll across to New Install
Press Select twice

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreYou are not upgrading to Sky Q are you, if so and you have been sent a new card you need to use it and pair it to your box. Other than that try pairing the card again, even if you have had 6 years with it, it is worth a go to see if it fixes the issue. If you don't want to then all you can do is to contact Sky support about it.

Hi, do you know how I can do this re-pairing back to my original card via Sky+ (about 8 years old!!) ... I didn't go through with a SkyQ upgrade in Jan 2020 and now, since March 25th it's coming with an error that "card is not authorised" which is not at all convenient when we're all indoors!!! Stay safe...

We started to place an order in January but called and postponed it indefinitely as we are trying to move, potentially out of the country. I've spoken to a couple of sky people prior to today and they have assured me that it is on hold and we don't have to do anything until we know what is happening. This has clearly been compounded by the Covid 19 crisis.
Today we can't get our card to work, we don't have a new card and can't even get the recorded items to play. Please help!

I don't fall into any of the vulnerable or key worker groups. I assume you will refund our payment as we will have to use freeview and lose all recordings!
We recorded more than normal due to being in lockdown, why were we not informed this would happen?

My husband has now informed me that he doesn't believe a SkyQ card would work in the SkyHD box. We don't have it anyway so what are we to do?
The ONLY reason we took Sky was for F1 and if that moves elsewhere so will we.
Please can you not just turn it back on again, why make changes during this crisis anyway? It seems particularly pointless when issues can't be resolved unless you are part of a small group of people.

I have a messages saying viewing card not authorised and I have not received a new card so what can I do if you are not answering the phone to us coz we are not priority
