New sky remote not working on infrared ir link

Hi I have a sky+ HD box and in my bedroom a sky ir link infrared via coax cable, everything running fine but my FF on my remote is now very difficult to make a contact. I brought a new remote which works well on my main TV but doesn't work on my infrared sky link. I have paired it to my TV fine but cannot use it for sky what could be the problem

Do you mean the new remote operates your Sky+HD box correctly when it's pointed directly at it? Is the power LED on the magic eye still lit?

Yes that is correct, it works when it's pointed at the actual box with the main TV but doesn't work on the sky IR link upstairs, all is connected as the old remote still works minus the FF button. I have linked it with the TV so works the TV but not sky, hope that makes sense.

To summarise: the new remote directly controls your Sky box ok, and your old remote still controls your Sky box via the magic eye.

That's odd. You could try putting the remote into Sky+ mode to see if that fixes it. You won't lose any of the remote's functionality and it's reversible. 

To try it:

1 Press "TV"
2 Press and hold "Select" and "i" together until the red LED flashes twice 
3 Press "1" for Sky+ mode
4 Press "Select" - the red LED should flash twice
5 Press "Sky

This might sound odd, but try not pointing the remote directly at the magic eye. Mine works best when pointing it at the ceiling or to the wall 90 degrees to the left.
