Missing multiple TV channels on Sky HD box?
Hi.
My main box is a SkyQ box, but I also have a SkyHD box in another part of the house, running on free channels.
Every time I turn the HD box on, it seems to be missing more and more channels. It's lost BBC1, ITV and various others. I've left it on, left it off, and updated it to no avail.
I've tried searching here but for some reason my searching isn't bringing anything up (is it not a common problem?).
I've asked Sky chat but it keeps defaulting to the Q box, which seems to be running OK (apart from is very hot to touch!).
According to the Q box, Signal strength is 60, quality is 90.
What else can I do please? If there's a previous post on this, please direct me there. Thank you.

Re: Missing multiple TV channels on Sky HD box?
The signal strength/quality of you Sky Q box is no indication of the same on your HD box as box boxes used different parts of the LNB
Try placing your HD box into single feed mode as I'm guessing it cannot record

Re: Missing multiple TV channels on Sky HD box?
Thanks.
I've checked and it's already in single feed mode.
No, it doesn't record.
It's not connected to the internet, but I may be able to do that, if it would help?
I wanted to try to eliminate dish misalignment as a cause - that's why I included the signal info. The signal on the HD box looks similar though.
I'm getting a message about no signal for some channels e.g. BBC4. I suspect this may be the issue?;

As you have said your main box is SKY Q then your old SKY HD box card is deactivated - you can't have a SKY HD subscription as well as SKY Q
This means you would only be able to use the old box to watch the Free To Air channels with no record/playback
If you are getting all channels on your SKY Q box then it is unlikely to be a dish alignement problem
To use a SKY HD or Fresat box with SKY Q you must have what is called a Hybrid LNB which has both SKY Q 'Wideband' outputs and older legacy 'Universal' outputs
If the tuning frequencies are correct (unfortunately I don't know how the SKY HD boxes get updates) then it may be a faulty LNB or cabling both of which would need a local installer to check out

Is it a Sky HD or Sky+ HD box?
I corrected issue with my FTA only Sky+ HD box by connecting to the internet😉

Re: Missing multiple TV channels on Sky HD box?
Thanks all.
I think I'll try connecting it to the broadband next door, and if that doesn't work, sadly give up on it and try to find another option to provide tv in that area.
(If it's a cabling problem, it's probably not worth the cost of calling a local installer to resolve versus paying for something else.)

That will do nothing for a Sky Plus box that doesn't have an active subscription
