If I change my sky box from Sky+ to a new SkyQ, how do I get my recordings from one box to another? after all the last time I was given a new box, I lost all my recordings, and I have 70 music recordings of my favourite tunes!

hi @xrisjbain1
I am afraid, there isn't (& never has been) any process to transfer recordings between SKY boxes.
More recent/popular programmes may be availble to download from Catch up/On Demand (although I don't think this may be available for music)
Any purchased content can be downloaded onto the new box.
As an aside, you may wish to read some notes I have made for people considering switching from SKY +/HD to SKY Q

As you haven't purchased those, and a Sky subscription doesn't contain access rights to any particular item of content, I'm afraid there should be no presumption of retention.
Note that they will also disappear if the box fails or, eventually, when Sky+ and/or satellite television ceases to be a thing.
