@P+Beach

In addition, customers who also have Sky Protect insurance through Domestic and General Insurance have reported that D & G wouldn't send an engineer - but did offer the customer £65 towards arranging one themselves.

Go ahead and call.

The cause is most likely a fault with your dish or cables. Unfortunately Sky no longer provide engineer support for Sky+ equipment (the forum you've posted in)  unless you have Sky Protect, so you'll need to contact a local satellite engineer to take a look.

Alternatively now might be a good time to consider upgrading to Sky Q. Any dish or cabling issues will be addressed as part of the Sky Q installation at no additional cost to you.

Re: I would like to talk to somebody on sky

Thank you for your response.

We have decided to update equipment

We have been with sky for 25 years

I do not intend to buy any insurance as I feel I pay enough for sky each month

Automated service answering calls is no good

@P+Beach
Calls to Sky will initially be automated which may try to send you here to the forum, offer you online help or offer to send you a text. Stay on the line as long as possible and saying nothing when asked the reason for the call sometimes helps being put in the queue for an agent.

I will cc in one of the other Superusers who has compiled a helpful guide for those thinking of transitioning from Plus to Q which may provide some insight into something you hadn't considered.

Re: I would like to talk to somebody on sky

Thank you for your help

I have been told that our sky+ needs upgrading so have arranged for new box and date for engineer to call but we have to wait till 6th June.

Until then we get no signal when funnily enough it rains.

We have looked at sky dish but it looks okay

@P+Beach Virgin certainly wouldn't suffer atmospheric intrusion. If you're looking in that direction, you might want to consider Sky Stream, which is delivered via your broadband service and therefore also not at the behest of satellite reception..

I suspect you're thinking of Sky Glass, which is a physical TV.

Sky Stream runs on a small set top box - a 'Puck' which connects to your existing TV and is considerably smaller than your Sky+ box.

hi @P+Beach

As @Daniel0210  mentions, you may, also, wish to read some notes I have made for people considering switching from SKY +/HD to SKY Q
