I want to upgrade to Sky Q but cannot lose recorded content on my Sky+ HD box

I have Sky+ HD, with some programs with extremely high sentimental value recorded. These are mainly daily news reports, (they featured members of my family and friends and coverage of an event that was extremely important to me), so they're not content I could download to a new box. I want to keep these recordings. The thought of losing them triggers a panic attack. They're that important to me.

I think all of the programs I want to keep, aired on p, and were recorded from, free to view or the regular terrestrial TV channels, (but received and recorded with Sky+ HD). If not, most did.

I've wanted to upgrade to Sky Q for quite a while, but I understand there is no way to backup or transfer saved Sky+ HD content to Sky Q? I *cannot* lose these recorded programs.

I feel trapped by this and unable to upgrade. As a result, I am losing out both by Sky reducing the service to Sky+ HD customers, (e.g. by ending support for the Sky+ app, without incorporating the lost features into Sky Go), and by not being able to upgrade to take advantage of new features.

Please help?

To add, these recorded news shows are mostly from around 9 years ago,

@Purple+Kitty

If you upgraded to Sky Q you would indeed lose the ability to watch those programmes on your old Sky+ box but unfortunately the same can be said when your current Sky+ box bites the dust. As Sky+ boxes haven't been manufactured in about 7 years your current box won't last indefinitely.

@Purple+Kitty Realistically your only option is to aquire a recordable DVD player (or similar) and create DVD versions of your recordings. There shouldn't be an issue doing this for recordings from FTA channels. Only movies and sport tend to have encryption blocking recording.

As @Daniel0210 says, one day your Sky+HD box's hard drive will fail and you would lose them anyway.

I am in a similar situation. I only have a small news segment that I would like to keep. My hubby suggested that I play the recording and video it with my phone. The quality won't be great but at least the recording will be there. Best wishes with your dilema.
