I have recently discussed renewing my contract with Sky but to have Sky Q they have said we would need a new box as ours is so old it would not support Netflix. We have had ours for 14 years and it can sometimes be a little unpredictable. But sky want to charge us an extra £99 pounds for box but a new customer only pays £20. Is it worth escalating this issue do you think

You should be able to renew a contract (even on Ultimate TV) without actually having a Q box: you just can't use the bundled Netflix on a Sky+ box itself.
We have had ours for 14 years and it can sometimes be a little unpredictable.
Sky+ HD hardware hasn't been manufactured since 2015: Sky will no longer replace it themselves, and the only source is second-hand.
But sky want to charge us an extra £99 pounds for box
Are you insisting on a 2TB box? The typical upgrade to a 1TB main Q box plus one Mini box is 'free' (no up-front cost) but may have a higher monthly subscription.

If you have a Sky subscription with Sky+ then this continues month by month and does not need renewing, you may have to move to Sky Q / Glass / Stream if you want to change the subscription

Hi @Charliedave
Try going through to the Cancellations/Retentions team and see what they can offer you in terms of a upgrade to Sky Q becuase they usually have better offers. Also from what ive seen prevously in these threads sky are trying to push people to Sky Q, Stream or Glass so It's strange why customer services said it was a £99 upgrade for a 1TB box, I've got a 2TB box and it only cost £20 including the installation visit

Yes, that's typically been the case since Q was released: the Multiscreen subscription is subsidising the hardware loan.
You could try arguing with Sky that they are offering 'free' upgrades, and neither of those meets the definition.
