Recently I got a new tv because it needed upgrading but my old sky box won't fit into it. I don't know if I should direct buy a new one myself or contact sky directly. Can someone help and also please give their full phone number? I would really appreciate it. Thank you

I have an old box and it's a sky box. It's not HD

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreYour best bet is a Sky+HD box, which has an HDMI socket. Sky no longer provide any Sky+ boxes as Sky+ is a legacy platform with limited support, but you can pick a used box up cheaply from the likes of ebay. Look only at DRX890 and DRX895 models.
Or now might be the time to consider upgrading to Sky Q which is Sky's current satellite set top box.

I'm going to contact sky tomorrow because my current box is a sky box and hopefully they might be able to help. But yes a sky plus HD is what I'm planning to get. How much is a sky q?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreI expect Sky will say you'll have to upgrade to Sky Q. You don't pay for the box - it's loaned to you - so you'll need to negotiate on the viewing package. Bear in mind they want you to upgrade so don't accept any deal you're not happy with.
An alternative solution might be an scart to HDMI converter, but picture quality might not be too good.

So the new box is free? Do I give my other box in or throw it out? What are the deals like?

Find out moreThere might be set up fee for the Q box, but it's not set in stone, and keep in mind that they want you to upgrade so aim for it to be reduced or waived. Viewing package deals are negotiable. Your Sky+ box is yours to do with as you wish. Sky will take it back for recycling if you wish.

If you go to SKy they will move you to SKY Q
I think you should probably read some notes I have made for people considering switching from SKY +/HD to SKY Q
