Hi Mark39,

Very re-assuring information to know for when my Sky+ box reaches the end of its life! ... which could be sooner than later!

I presume then, once ready for disposal (with the precaution of removing the 'Viewing Card' first), it will be OK to then take to my local Recycling depot & 'dump' in the 'small electrical goods' skip!

After all these years, it will almost feel like a funeral! ... 😢    RIP ... my Sky+ box!

Yes, or you can return it to Sky for recycling: https://www.sky.com/help/articles/recycle-sky-equipment

Your Sky box is your to do with as you see fit as the ownership is transferred to  you after your initial contract period (unlike Sky Q/Glass/Stream)

Yes, Returning to Sky for Recycling is an option I'd come across before, but thought, as my local Recycling depot is only a fairly short distance away, I wondered about that first, as felt would be easier taken there.

Still, your idea may be a better option for others!

Thanks for your very valid comment that I am the owner of my Sky+ box, which won't be the case with a Sky Q box etc, & therefore allows me to consider more than one option for disposal. 

Not only, is being able to take it to the local Recycling Centre when the time comes, more convenient to me, but feels more that I have a choice.  Whereas, with a Sky Q box etc, there is only one option & that is Recycling back to Sky, or face a charge, as on Loan only, which is such a difference!

But, who knows, the Recycling Centre may decide to send it back to Sky anyway!
