I cancelled sky q about three months ago had this anything to do with it

Unfortunately, yes. When you order Sky Q, your Sky+ Viewing Card is marked to be disabled at some future point. The process,isn't reversed when you cancel the Sky Q order. You'll need to contact Sky to request a replacement Viewing Card.
