Re: Cheapest way for me to watch Eurosport

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more

I know you guys are technically correct, but have some sympathy and understanding for the man.

He is also correct that Eurosport was part of the basic package that he signed up for. And as a sports fan it could well have been his most viewed channel out of them all.

Given the amount he and many others pay Sky, they could at least allow people to cancel without a fee, or give us sports fans (with Sky Sports) a reduction.

This isn't the first chunk of sport we've lost to from Sky to TNT in recent years (European football the big one, but also Test cricket and a lot of boxing events) while still charging us the same.

@FastEddie1

You are right that just pointing out that this was not SKY's decision and which previous subscriptions covered Eurosport can feel clinical & uncaring.

Although I, personally, rarely watched Eurosport I do feel for those custimers who watched the differing Sports they covered (I am keen to know how it will affect Olymopic coverage that was my biggest watch)

Clearly WBD feel they need to recover more costs for what they have bid for and won.

I think one of the hardest things is that the sports on Eurosport seem to have jut been absorbed into the single TNT subscription whichh is just too expensive for many.

I think it would have helped if they had managed to introduce a cheaper subscription for the old Eursoport content

It is clear that all the different big players bidding for differing Sports rights just inflates prices and the customers loose out

We have, of course, seen similar dilution of entertainment TV & movies as more & more streaming services appear

Re: Cheapest way for me to watch Eurosport

Thanks @nigea99

My wife is a dementia case and well down the rabbit hole.  She can just about flick between a few adjacent Sky channels to find something she'll watch.  She will never learn how to get from Sky to Discovery+ on the telly, much less that, when there, she has to select one actual program - and not "Upcoming" - which will then stop at the end and possibly revert to some default position.  Sky Tennis and Eurosport, with the sound turned way down for least mental processing, could keep her entertained all day, at least with moving wallpaper of interest to her.

That's gone and I'm still paying £105 for the tennis and F1 (mostly for me) for what's left.  I've now added Discovery+ at £31 per month to see how that goes.  She won't cope, especially with both.

As for the original Sports package, they said I was paying £10 per month for it and it would include F1 if I took it 'now' (long ago).  I took movies as well (another £10 of course) but she can't take movies in any more and I must cancel that, if not all of it.

We don't watch football, cricket, rugby, darts, netball, basketball, pool, motorcycles (much), rally cross and many more, so there's not much left.

I feel I've been hung out to dry, with no information or compensation or plan B, unless it's buried in her laptop emails.
