Can’t view sky news channel 501

I just switched tv on and selected channel 501 which is sky news,but it's asking for PIN code. I've always watched this channel free, as I am not subscribed to sky(left sky year ago)what's just happened, I don't understand. Does anyone know the answer to this please. 🤔

Not sure if this is what happened here, but occasionally Sky News airs special reports that require a PIN for age related content.

As @oj01 indicates it's possible the channel was showing a pre-recorded segment which they considered unsuitable for a pre-watershed timeslot unless Mandatory Daytime Protection was applied.
