Can't veiw any channels

When I try to turn sky on it doesn't allow me to select anything. The apps at the top of the screen appear for a few seconds but it doesn't let me select anything and then disappears. I can press anything in the remote control

Do you have Sky Plus as you mention apps and Sky Plus has no apps?
