The Last Of Us - Coming To Sky 16th January

In 2003, an outbreak of a mutant Cordyceps fungus decimates the United States, mutating its human hosts into aggressive monsters known as the Infected. Twenty years later, civilization has been decimated by the infection.

When you're lost in the darkness, look for the light...

The outbreak of infection that forms the central plot for the show takes place in 2003, as opposed to 2013. Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle 14-year-old Ellie out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What should be a simple job slowly becomes more complicated, as Ellie reveals she was Infected not long ago, and may be immune to the mutated fungus. Joel must protect his precious bounty in search of the rebel militia, the Fireflies.

The Last Of Us is a direct adaptation of the popular video game of the same name. The first season will consist of nine episodes written by Mazin and Druckmann, with a score from Gustavo Santaolalla.

Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey portray the show's lead characters, Joel and Ellie. With some minor perspective changes from video game to TV show, the series will remain as true to the immersive source material as possible.

The Last Of Us premieres on Sky Atlantic on the 16th Jan, at 2am BST.
