What's new?
Sky Arts’ flagship arts competition, Landscape Artist of the Year, is back for its 11th series on 14 January, airing on Sky Arts, Freeview Channel 36, and streaming on NOW.
Hosted by Stephen Mangan, the series celebrates extraordinary artistic talent from across the UK and Ireland as a new wave of artists pick up their brushes to capture Britain’s most breathtaking scenery.
This year, we’re excited to welcome Eva Langret, Director of Frieze London, to the judging panel for the first time. Eva joins long-standing judges Tai Shan Schierenberg and Kathleen Soriano, bringing her contemporary art expertise to the competition.
Filmed at some of the UK’s most iconic landmarks, the artists will set up their easels in stunning locations, including:
- Dover Castle, Kent
- The Lake District, Cumbria
- The Thames from HMS Wellington, London
- Dover Ferry Port, Kent
- St James’s Park, London
- The Ouse Valley Viaduct, West Sussex
- The Falkirk Wheel, Scotland
What should I expect?
Across the heats, eight artists in each episode have just four hours to capture their chosen scene, while up to 50 wildcard entrants paint alongside them in hopes of catching the judges’ eye.
Winners from each heat will progress to the semi-final and final, where one artist will be crowned Landscape Artist of the Year 2026 and receive a £10,000 commission to paint Croagh Patrick Ireland’s holy mountain for the National Gallery of Ireland.
Produced by Storyvault Films, the series promises inspiring creativity and breathtaking views.
Don’t miss it airing weekly from 14 January!
