Wrong channel used by Sky Stream Play list

Why does adding a show to my playlist on U&Drama then add it from U&Alibi which i dont subscribe to and can't therefore watch. It just comes up with need to upgrade to watch this show.

Re: Wrong channel used by Sky Stream Play list

What you've come across is that each episode has a primary channel or app associated with it. For New Tricks it's U&Alibi but if you go to an episode on the show page it should show "Play on X" too in instances where the show is on different services.

With stream it's important to note that the channel which broadcasts may not necessarily have streaming rights. The example I always use is Channel 4 airs The Simpsons but only Disney+ has the streaming rights.

So this interface is by design, because it brings together the various services into one place. It's unfortunate that the default is a channel you don't have, and there seems to be an error on this programme because it's not surfacing the show on the U app, but hopefully this "Watch on X" tip helps you easily find episodes on services you do have.

@Jad22 I can see this has been escalated with Sky but in the meantime you should be able to watch U&Drama shows on the U app, try saying "open U" with the voice remote and see if you can find the show there.

Re: Wrong channel used by Sky Stream Play list

  • Hi, thanks for the suggestion, I agree ref using U,  but it's an issue with the Playlist feature. I've persuaded my wife to use Stream and do away with hard disc storage then on the first example using playlist it diverts to a channel I'm not paying for. As it happens the actual program was New Tricks and can be seen on BBC as well. But that's not the point. But thanks all the same.

Re: Wrong channel used by Sky Stream Play list

Thanks for the info I now understand ref steaming rights. You'd think they would get this corrected though. I'm looking at the playlist now after clicking on New Tricks from U&Drama it shows all 12 series on U&Alibi then when you highlight the first episode it shows underneath a further two options "play on BBC iplayer" and "Play on ITVX".

Never mind all good. Not too sure my wife's impressed ha. I'll keep trying to persuade this is the future eh. Thanks again.

Aren't U&Drama and U&Alibi part of the same subscription pack?

Nope, Alibi is in the Ultimate TV package and Drama is in the Essential TV package.
