Streaming is delayed compared to terrestrial TV or satellite TV. For the Main Event channel there's an option that may pop up called "Live Sync" which reduces the delay considerably, and hopefully that will be rolled out to the other channels in future.

Unicast IP distribution systems have an inherent lag compared to satellite or Multicast.
Multicast is a brilliant technology but has a major downside in that only BT Retail and EE use it for their TV products and you have to have their broadband service.
However, BT Group are rolling out their new Multicast - Assisted Unicast Delivery system (MAUD) which reduces lag significantly and brings it to within a couple of seconds of live and in line with satellite.
Sky are utilising the tech Sky Sports Main Event under the Live Sync moniker.
An on screen prompt appears when it's available.
