I read somewhere that people thought they paid £ 13/26 a month and that was it but this is just for the tv, then there is all your other sky stuff.
If anyone has real good TV (as I do) surely sky have not a hope of to many people taking up this glass?
@padre I have Glass but fully agree with you. When I moved property last year and lost access to a satellite dish there was, at that time, no option of having just the Stream puck otherwise I would have kept my LG OLED TV which was way better than Glass. The problem with Glass is it is now 2 year old technology and wasn't that good in the first place. I imagine Sky will either bring out a Version 2 or ditch Glass altogether in favour of concentrating on Stream.

If Just if this did happen what you say streaming only then I assume that would be to the system what people have now IE "Q", so if that were the case when you stream something would you still be able to record it if you wanted to? Maybe totally hyperthetical but just wondered.

Hi can someone please tell me why my streaming is so bad the volume keeps cutting out and the picture keeps freezing the only way I can sort it is if I close it all down turn off from the wall wait and then try again. Sometimes it works or else it just keeps freezing.

Find out moreOne of the main reasons for freezing is the quality and speed of the WiFi signal being received at the TV/puck and not that being received at the router. This can be checked with the Netflix App (Get help > Check network). The minimum speed recommended for HD is 25mbps and 30mbps for UHD (add 5mbps to each if you have an additional puck)
The important thing with Wi-Fi is to have a stable signal as both Glass and Stream are susceptible to problems if there is any signal fluctuation or interference. For this reason an Ethernet connection is usually better than WiFi (but not always) as it maintains better stability. If you try an Ethernet connection don’t forget to turn off WiFi in Settings / Network / Advance settings.
If this is not practical (as in my own home) then you could consider Powerline Adapters which are about £35 on Amazon. Don’t waste money on a Gb model as Glass and Stream Ethernet ports only support 100mbps.

I'm a few weeks in, and it really is hot garbage. It's basically an advertising platform that sky use to shill for netflix and Disney+. They must be on a serious cut from those companies, you can't even disable search results from their terrible apps. I only got this so my mum could watch legacy television when she visits, personally I use ubnp and Nvidia shield. Sky would do well to look at the latter, maybe learn what a well set up device should look like. I'd cancel this rubbish if it wasn't for my mum.

Sky stream is terrible compared to sky q , constantly switching itself off if for example I pause live football and takes ages to restart and you can only watch live again definitely cancelling

I agree with every word disgraceful putting an expensive product out that doesn't work

The Sky stream pucks load a lot quicker than the satellite enabled boxes from my experience when they are rebooted.
Also it is possible to watch any show that has started from the beginning whilst it is going out live, you don't have to start watching them live. If you go directly to the live channel there is a button that pops up to start from live. If you go to the broadcast from the programme page, there will be a watch live box and a watch from
start box.

None of that works reliably there should and will be a class action claim against sky for putting this rubbish out. Sky are earning millions selling a product that doesn't work their reputation will be ruined.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Grif589 There must be something wrong with your setup, possibly not a stable enough WiFi. I love the streaming platform and wouldn't consider going back to Sky Q. There are certainly some things I don't like but that is implementation rather than hardware.

The two systems are quite different both have good and bad points but currently my Stream pucks are more stable than the Q boxes they replaced and give me a superior picture quality and flexibility in what I want to watch but I accept other people have different views.
It is easy to read negative comments in forums like this and conclude the system is pants when in practice the vast majority of customers are happy. There is no credible third party evidence Sky Stream is seriously faulty indeed according to Ofcom Sky have the lowest complaint level of any Pay TV supplier.
The pause time out which you mentioned is one of the differences but in that case it is driven not by a design decision by Sky but by power saving regulations set top boxes launched after a certain date have to comply with.

I have had Stream since it launched and the only problem I have had is one remote failure (and even that sorted itself in a few days). It has been excellent for me so the tech does work.

Still concistent, repeatable audio issues when using pass through mode. Pausing programmes then stops the audio and it won't resume without rebooting the puck. Definitely a Sky issue as all other devices using pass through to Sonos soundbar work fine.
Auto sound mode works most of the time but is so out of sync it's not funny
