Why does the sky stream version of the Apple TV+ app not allow me to watch movies i already own on that platform? This is infuriating, i may have to return your pucks as i have a large collection of movies on there and i am unwilling to repurchase them.
Buyer Beware.

The app on Sky Stream is just the Apple TV+ app which only gives access to the Apple TV+ service. The Apple TV app (without the +) which is available on some smart TVs and the Amazon Firestick gives full access to your Apple movie library as well as the Apple TV+ service.
There is no way to access your library via a Stream puck. This is probably a commercial decision by Sky/Apple because Sky would prefer that customers purchase movies from their own Sky Store (in inferior quality) rather than a competitors' movie purchase service.

Because you need access to the Apple TV app😉
Apple TV+ is Apple's subscription TV service... which does not include Apple Store and Apple Library🤔

@DB13 There is a difference between the Apple TV + App and the Apple TV App. On the Sky Streaming platform the app that is available is the Apple TV + app, which is required to watch the Apple TV + subscription service.

For reasons known only to the Apple marketing department, the '+' version of that service is the less versatile one.

If you've got an extensive collection then I'd recommend buying an Apple TV 4K box. They're very good. Your movies will play at the correct frame rate with more HDR options (HDR10+ or Dolby Vision) and you get access to iTunes Extras which come free with many movie purchases.

Sigh.
Thanks for the quick responses - Ill have to see if this is a dealbreaker, i didnt realise there was an apple tv app solely for the + content.
Maybe i was just being tight not wanting to splash out on AppleTV (hardware)

It really depends on what you want. If you need a full TV service and watch a lot of live TV and sports then Stream is the better option. If you care more about movies and having them presented in the best way possible, along with a much more versatile choice of apps (which you control, not Sky) on a much more robust and fast bit of hardware, then an Apple TV 4K box is the way to go.

Just buy a fire tv stick. Cheap and cheerful!
