When i add a something to my playlist that has an advertisement in the middle rthe second part is no

For instance my dad likes to watch westerns so i go through the tv guide. They are in two parts because there is an advert in the middle so add it to the playlist expecting it to add the second part. When he goes to watch it only the first part is there

Correct. That's down to the way the channel broadcaster is broadcasting the movie as 2 parts, whereas the system requires a film to be broadcast as one show and not like a TV show of 2 episodes in order for a recording to work. They do this to get around OFCOM regulations so they can put in more ad breaks.

@MLW21

I suspect you mean one of the (bogus) 'Celebrity News' or 'Top Ten Film' items which some channels insert during a broadcast movie to evade Ofcom limits on the amount of advertising within any one item of content: unfortunately this does break the Recording function as Sky seems to be unable to treat the resulting two EPG slots as the same thing (because this would be admitting that they are....)

Yes, the Great set of film channels does this.
I playlist a lot of westerns from that channel.

I have reported to Sky to pass onto Great TV to see if they can both find a resolution.

You can do the same to by sending an email to the Sky Viewer relations team to report it;

ViewerR@sky.uk

There is a Great Tv app, on Smart TVs and phone/ tablet app Stores that can be cast to your TV, the same movies after airing on the channels are there for a time.

You can still add to your playlist and use them there as a bookmark for finding in the app.

It is a shame this does not work correctly with Sky Stream cloud recording as it works for the The Five set of channels (5, 5usa, 5 action), but they have a catch-up app within  Stream that picks up the full film from the Playlist rail for the programme.

I was hoping this could be resolved in all these software updates coming up.  But sadly no. Looks like we are stuck with this problem.

@JEFF1102 Sky are actively developing the platform and this a well known irritation so will be on a fix lidt somewhere but Sky never tell us any details on their future plans. It shouldn't need a firmware fix but it maybe a rights issues so the lawyers get involved.

Have noticed in the last week that the Great TV set of channels are now cloud recording the full films in a single recording, even when they have the split promotional advert half way through.

Cloud recorded a number of westerns and other classic films over the weekend and end of last week and all played out as the full film.

Also noticed that also across the 5 set of channels, like 5 action also with the mid film promotional ad are all working now correctly, some were not before.

After my reporting to the VR team and passed on, it was mentioned in a reply I recieved to contact VR with any other future such instances.

@lettice That sounds good. At least sky are trying to sort this out at last . I have recorded films from Legend and they are cloud recording.

However last night added Bird On A Wire showing on Legend at 9pm. If said set to record but when it started said available until the finish of the live broadcast at 11.05. And then it was removed. So what happened there?

@lettice  I am aware when a programme has been cloud recorded when selecting it from my playlist as it says "Recorded, 12 May, 7.00pm" for example. However I have not yet found a way to see what has been (and what will be) cloud recorded. Is there a way of doing this that I have missed? 🤷‍♂️

Possibly because Bird On A Wire is a 'premium' title and available for purchase and rental via Sky Store and other movie streaming services. Sky would rather you spend £3.49 to rent it or £5.99 to buy it than let you have access to a cloud recording for free.

Legend must have the broadcast rights to the film, but nothing else, so if you didn't watch it live, or start watching it during the broadcast timeslot, you're out of luck and need to pay for it.

That sounds like a recording planner like on Sky q.

Not sure it will ever appear like that on Sky Stream, but do think it would be welcome by everyone, especially of late with the big available push now for cloud recording across all channels, whether they provide actual cloud recordings or links to their apps, if available.

Also, as well as showing the recorded time text, if an upcoming repeat is coming up, it will replace the recorded time text on your cloud recording with the next showing, but the play button for your original cloud recording will still be there.

Mind, it will have issues, much like the 'bird on a wire' which as has been mentioned above, appears to be a Legend rights issue.

Notice another programme is available to playlist for 'bird on a wire' a music programme on the Amazon app, not the film on Legend.

Sky often fail around setting such things correctly and should in my view be more proactive in looking for such anomalies. If the cloud recording is not going to be available after the linear live broadcast has aired, it should not allow you to 'playlist' cloud record it, but expect in this case it may have  set that name incorrectly as another programme was available with the same name.

Thanks @lettice  I was thinking I might have missed a trick somewhere but obviously not.  The streaming platform seem to have a rail for just about everything on the home screen (most of which I never use and would happily delete if it were possible) so maybe in time there will be a rail  to show what programmes are sitting in your cloud recordings

Re: When i add a something to my playlist that has an advertisement in the middle rthe second part i

Oddly enough the cloud recording of Bird In A Wire is now on my playlist. I'm sure it wasn't there last night after the live broadcast ended or this morning when i checked but it's there now!  But as someone else mentioned a voice search for it brings up a prime video show about Leonard Cohen.

Not that i've seen, but its certainly a feature i also want.

On a tangent, on a cloud recording i took over the weekend of a sporting event, it said on it record "11 May 12pm, expires tomorrow 4:30 pm", i thought that was interesting i've never seen an expiry tag on a cloud recording before.

Yes, I have seen a few of those expiries appearing mainky on a few Legend channel films that sit in my playlist in the last week.

ITV playlist items now show expiry dates of some in the playlist for its ITVx app link asset that is expiring on the app.

What was the sporting event and channel?
