On a tangent, on a cloud recording i took over the weekend of a sporting event, it said on it record "11 May 12pm, expires tomorrow 4:30 pm", i thought that was interesting i've never seen an expiry tag on a cloud recording before.

Yes, I have seen a few of those expiries appearing mainky on a few Legend channel films that sit in my playlist in the last week.

ITV playlist items now show expiry dates of some in the playlist for its ITVx app link asset that is expiring on the app.

What was the sporting event and channel?

@lettice it was the UK Open Pool on Sky Sports and indeed the cloud recordings are only valid for 48 hours after broadcast for this event and are then subsequently being deleted.

I've seen those expiries on on-demand content you mentioned, i.e films on ITV X that get removed within 30 days etc but just never seen it on a cloud recorded content until this weekend.
