Re: UHD football on Stream
I do know that...
My point was that objectively and scientifically the Sky in HLG is NOT better than TBT Sports when both are played in 4k UHD.
- This is in response to the majority of respondants here saying that Sky was better...
Make no mistake I would 100% advise anyone considering the 2 services to go to Sky over BT but to say its better is simply wrong (because HRD10 used by TNT is a better format than HLG).
And the TNT/Discovery app is next level...for so many reasons that no one else has adopted (goal notifications on other channels, easily going to each and every match incident rather than ff or rewind etc)
- Both UHD serices are premium though...and highly recommend.

Saying one is better than the other is kind of pointless because, as I said earlier, it depends on the TV the viewer is using.
A TV with a high peak brightness can and will show HLG HDR at a higher brightness level than HDR10 (which has the peak brightness fixed at source). HLG checks the capability of the TV before setting its brightness output level so in some respects, if you like your image to be bright and punchy and your TV is capable, the image quality from HLG could be seen to be 'better' than an HDR10 output.
It's all very subjective. Basically watch what looks best to you on your TV, and as you say, if you like sport, get both services.
I personally don't watch sport so I don't really care what format it's shown in. Watching some folk kick a ball around or some cars bombing round a track are equally tedious to me in 480P SDR as they are in 2160P with HDR. I watched a live stream of some football in 4K with Dolby Vision & Atmos at an industry event last year. Nearly fell asleep.

Re: UHD football on Stream
This steam is about UHD football Buddy and given you're arguing this point and lurking in Sky forums as a hobby says it all really...
For anyone else you can check what I've said by a quick Google...
1, is HLG a poor man's version of HDR10...yes it is because it is missing metadata
2, Does Sky use HLG...yes it does
3, Does TNT/Discovery use HDR10...yes it does

Would love to know more about this missing metadata so I can pass it on to all my post production colleagues. Perhaps we'll send out a search party to try and find it... 😉
Enjoy your footy! 😘

Re: UHD football on Stream
is it in HDR10?
when i view TNT ultimate it says HLG on my TV. (I have stream)
Also no atmos on TNT either. (there is if watched via BT/EE TV as I used to have it and that did use HDR10.)
if sky could fix the atmos issue that would be great.

Re: UHD football on Stream
on sky stream?
I say this because no matter what I watch it isn't in atmos.
Sky sports is however and thats fine, as is certain OD Cinema/Entertainment content.
just not TNT...

If there's no Atmos on TNT then that's a TNT issue to sort surely, not Sky?

Re: UHD football on Stream
very true - but TNT surely not interested in the likes of us, would need sky to nudge TNT to fix it.
I think this was mentioned before but fell on deaf ears mainly as TNT (then BT sports) were only interested in providing the best stream for their own customers via BT/EE TV. (I get that).

Re: UHD football on Stream
Why would Sky want to see a broadcast rival give a better service though? Sky aren't going to do that so it's up to customers to badger TNT to make the change.

Re: UHD football on Stream
You could use the Discovery+ app to watch football and you get Atmos.
