Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@PSC133 given the hardware is almost certainly identical between markets I would expect the SOC can probably handle tuning. Dont ask me why Sky dont enable the function in the UK as I simply dont know. It could be a software variation say for Ireland as the regs maybe different there or perhaps a slip up in the firmware as I said earlier. Who knows. 🤷♂️

Does this also mean that the U.K. puck has an inactive, but installed, tuner? Or is the tuner software based?
There is some physical circuitry behind the socket because otherwise it would be purely decorative.

It would appear the despite the contrary, the aerial input on a Sky Stream box does work when you cancel your subscription.
You have two apps displayed on the interface, when your subscription has ended, (did not reset the box), one for Sky and one for the TV aerial input.
You can scan for channels, select the region you are in an a user guide is available.
I was tempted to reset the box and see if I could get some of the other streaming apps but have resisted incase the aerial option disappears!
I own the box, so does not have to be returned.

After reading your post I have just tried my puck and it is definitely not working on mine.
The relevant Sky web page as per post 29 above still says it is not available on stream pucks (in the UK)

Have you reset the device? If so, this might possibly explain why the aerial option is not showing` as it is not linked to your account and presumes you are a new subscriber
The last time I terminated a subscription I reset the device before it expired and when I switched it on to resubscribe a few months later for that 50% off offer, I recall it did not have the aerial option before I rang sky.
I am presuming if you own the device and do not reset it after the subscription ends the aerial option now appears. But if you have not reset it, then that rules out that theory. Another user on here stated he has the aerial option which others dismissed, but clearly was correct. If the option disappears I will update.
Have you tried connecting to the wifi to see whether that reveals the aerial option?

@shorty64 No, I haven't reset my puck. After seeing your post about your working ariel socket I simply unplugged and rebooted my wi-fi to see if it worked on my stream puck. Which unfortunately it didn't.

I'm in the Republic of Ireland and I can tune in all the terrestrial channels. Even when my box is connected to the Internet!
I can connect aerial to the Sky stream and get terrestrial channels!

In the Sky Stream EPG or the separate (and rather basic) digital terrestrial television listings?

I can do both. The aerial connection is working just like any other app.
I can move from the main epg to the aerial epg no problem.
Why I'd want to is another question😂
If the Internet goes down I'll have a few channels to watch I suppose!!

I can upload a video if people don't believe me!! 😂

That isn't going to probably happen, there are a select few on these forums who "ALWAYS HAVE TO BE RIGHT"

The biggest problem is that Sky publish so much unverified and incorrect information on their website, on the closed forum and even internally, that SuperUsers and even Sky staff members can't ever really know the facts unless they can test specific things themselves.
I too was able to show that a Stream puck has many useable features without a Sky streaming TV subscription when I cancelled my sub at the beginning of the year, despite Sky claiming that nothing would work.
I think that because the pucks are mass produced for a worldwide market and each run a variant of the same Entertainment OS with many similar but some different features, there are bound to be cracks in the functionality which the developers for each individual market miss. It's customers like ourselves who end up finding these quirks.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Mister_Dalek suspect you are on the right track but things maybe a tad more complicated. The Stream pucks are used in multiple markets with varying regulatory regimes including. italy where all set top boxes have to offer access to the over the air channels. Each market has versions of the same firmware releases and it is therefore entirely possible some releases have enabled the aerial connection for UK and Irish pucks..
We have seen this in the past where firmware has enabled an unsupported feature and a future release has removed it again famously the ability of having multiple remotes controlling Q boxes over bluetooth. The Sky staff we have contact with work within Customer Services division not the divsion that develops the OS which is a Sky/Comcast operation so often these things come as news to them to when they see reports from customers.
If it is an error expect the option to be removed but it could be for an unannouced change in direction as Sky move to stopping sale of satellite systems to meet the complaint of no TV if the broadband is down. However that is 100% speculation. The only certainty is the function is switchable in firmware if it works now great but dont be too surprised if it stops working tomorrow.

It's the same in Australia with the Hubbl Hub - their version of the Stream puck. It can be set up for receiving access to free-to-air channels via the aerial input alongside the streamed channels, all accessed via the EPG. A bit like how Freely currently works on some smart TVs in the UK - one EPG with some streamed channels and some accessed via the aerial.
I got rid of my Stream puck at the beginning of the year so any firmware updates which remove unintentional features in the UK are meaningless to me. I just maintain an interest in the development of the service as I'd like it to work better in the future than it currently does.
