Hi I am at present half way though 2 year contract on Sky Q I am thinking about changing to Sky stream if Sky would let me to reduce. the cost. At present I have the full package signature cinema Sky sports TNT sports Sky kids HD Netflix primum and multiroom. I am thing of taking ultimate with all the extras I presently have with Sky Q except HD because that is standard in Sky stream. At present I pay £157 per int with Q and that includes some discounts. Been though the web site and the price for that is £110 per month for a new customers but what price do Sky offer existing customers for the same package. Also do Sky allow customers who are still in contract to transfer or I have wait till the end of my minimum term if I put in my Sky ID all I get offered is Sky glass which I don't want. Be grateful of any info

Thank you your reply based on info you have told me I think it will be best I keep what I got for the moment full fibre is not available in my area at present any way, I have reread quite a post on here of people wishing they have Sky Q sure internet problems with stream I beakive if it's not broken it dose need fixing. As I in earler post I am quite satisfied with what I got with Q I was going with the of reducing cost if I could. But all in to consideration of what you said it proverb,y not worth the risk at present. Let's see what Sky offer me next year when my Minimum term is up after all Sky still selling SkyQ to new customers and it going to be t least 4 years before Sky might stop using satellite no need to rush. Than you for all you help.

Re: Thinking of changing from Sky Q to Sky stream
If you want to switch mid-contract from Q to Stream you'll need to call Sky to do so. You are unlikely to get the full 'new customer' discounts by switching to Sky's streaming service.
You'll need to get a quote from them and see how it compares. Make sure you factor in the potential cost of upgrading your broadband in order to get Sky Stream to function. Be aware that each individual Stream puck needs its own independent fast and stable network connection - they do not talk to each other or act as WiFi repeaters in the same way as Q miniboxes do so you may need to improve your home broadband speed and reach in order to get a decent Stream experience.
Make sure you are fully aware of how SkyOS on Stream works - there is no local recording and live sport streams are behind the satellite broadcasts by anything up to a minute.

Re: Thinking of changing from Sky Q to Sky stream
Thank you for your detailed reply we have part fiber from BT with a down load speed about 72Mb. I just done a seed test on my on my iPhone and was the speed to the device and that situated in the place Sky stream box will sit. I good quality picture on things like Netflix and paramount. + on my Sky Q box nd Apple TV box so it might be good enough for Sky stream. I am bit wary apart from the cost there is really little need to change at this time. If Sky price to me was not much different to what I already pay for Sky Q I probably won't change, as as I will also lose the +1 channels with stream and my wife uses those. Also with my present subscription I have few discounts that I might lose if I switch, the Netflix price quoted for a new customer it actuly higher than what I am paying presen. Also if my present contract is due to run another year I supose don't thinkSky won't be in skys interest to offer that much discount to swop. I will proberly leave it now till after the holidays, in the new year, probably when Sky do there annual increase it might more a advantage then to swop then

@DaveDrizen Note sky don't do quotes , any offers sky make that you find acceptable must be taken on the spot as they wont be available next time you call

Depending on how many pucks you want to use then 72Mbps might be on the low side, particularly if it's just part fibre.
A speed test on an iPhone won't really give a true representation of what a Stream puck will actually receive because they have very different WiFi antennae internally. Stream pucks require a fast and, more importantly, stable broadband connection because most of the SkyOS they run on is server-based so there's a constant necessity to upload and download information to and from Sky's servers. This is different to how your Sky Q and Apple TV box stream content.
You're probably best off sticking with Sky Q for now, at least until your contract is up for renewal. Perhaps by then you'll be able to consider getting faster full fibre broadband in order to have a better chance of a more reliable service, and you could potentially take advantage of some Black Friday deals to switch to Stream around then too.

How about this for a laugh Sky Black Friday deal for me getting Sky glass
I am exstisting Sky Q customer half way though 2 years before contract for the full package which includes some discount Sky signature , Sky sports and Netflix premium . I also have Sky cinama multiroom Sky kids and HD. However Sky have offered me Black Friday deal to take Sky Glass .again with the full package with the Sky stream equivalent of what I have with skyQ. This where it come the funny bit. The deal is I pay £309 up front for a new TV that I don't really need and a Sky package for two years where I lose all my Sky Q discounts and I pay the full price for Sky sports complex package even though I am subscribing for a two year two year minium term the full price for Sky ultimate which has less channels than my signature and dose not include+1channels which my wife watch. In other words I pay full price for every thing At present I pay £157 a month for SkyQ. Sky Black Friday deal price for me changing to Glass is £155 per month subscption + the price of £309 TV I don't really need. Do Sky think we are stupidoffing deal like this, why would a take a deal where I am more or less paying about same for a service that is not as good as what I already have and lose all the discounts that I presently have with Q. After all the Sky Glass service is basically the SkyStream service with a new tv. It has not got many ai the facilities,ty of Sky Q, ie ablity to record programmes ect. I. Should add I have not asked Sky to change to Glass, it a Black Friday offer that Sky have come to me with. If this is a example of the way Sky treat long term customer with such stupid deals they are going to lose a lot of customer, as when it time to recontract next year I will remember this and be looking for something that will make stay with Sky or go else where for my tv

No-one outside Sky knows what their timescale is: the only public information is that their current contract with SES runs until the end of 2029. Logically the offer of discounted 24 month minimum terms would have to cease two years before the end of broadcasting.

Re: Thinking of changing from Sky Q to Sky stream
I have now definitely decided to stay with SkyQ till the of my minimum term. At that I will consider my options depding on what Sky offer. If sky offer me another good deal to stay with Q I might take or deal to change to stream I might consider that. Yes Sky have contract Astra till 2029 butvAstra are not replacing the satellites that Sky use and the presenting are coming to the end of there life. So I dout thatwil be another deal between Sky and Astra once the present one finishes so at that time Sky will be offering Q customers deals to switch to stream. It worth bearing in mind though hold the manoply of Tv from satellite when it cames to streaming services there are competitors and some offering depending what you want could better then what presen,y offer on stream. For instance when you subscribe to sky steam you lose the ability to record programmes and les channels including +1 channel somthingvmy wife use now. However the likes of ee offer streaming box that you can record and +1 channels are still in there line up depending what you want you do not have depend on Sky any more and I am sure that wiil be shown in what offer Sky will be offering even exsusting customers at that time.

Re: Thinking of changing from Sky Q to Sky stream
I think you've made the right choice. Everyone watches TV differently so it's important to have a TV service that suits how you and your family watch. It sounds like Sky Q gives you that at the moment so there's no point changing unless there's a specific reason to do so.
The good thing about streaming as you say is that it's a much more competitive marketplace. With just a broadband connection there are many more options of where to get the same content that you can get on Sky Stream and whether or not you want a full bundled service or not.
Sky even offer most of their own content via the NOW app on any streaming device so you don't have to use their hardware to watch Sky Entertainment, Sports or Movies. It's good that they have chosen to do this as it opens up options to paying customers who don't want or need all the free-to-air channels or fifteen different news channels, or any of the content on Discovery+.

SES (Société Européenne des Satellites) operating out of Luxembourg is the satellite owner. Astra is their name for a particular generation of satellites.
