Teaching an elderly person to use sky stream
Hi
i have just set up sky stream for an elderly neighbour who is not tech savvy at all. We have sky stream and love it but I'm struggling to get our friend to understand how it all works.
Are there any tips on how we can help him - there is a lot of info to absorb but I fear the box will be going back if I can't simplify it?

Re: Teaching an elderly person to use sky stream
The get to know Sky Stream videos near the bottom of the home page/video guides under the Help button at the bottom of the home page could help. In particular the voice control could help.
Setting up Favourites channels might be of use, adding in a handful of favourites rather than browsing the entire guide each time. Similarly adding in favourite shows to the playlist and using the Continue Watching bar for when new episodes of shows such as soaps become available,
Beyond that there isn't a great deal that can be done to simply the Home Screen any further as the main point of Stream is to federate the various streaming services along with Sky's own content in one place. By design, this is going to mean a lot of content is presented on the Home Screen.
Is there a particular aspect of Stream your neighbour would benefit from simplifying? Initial setup? Setting up favourite channels for quick access? Adding individual shows to the playlist for quick access? Getting used to using voice input for finding particular shows/channels?

Re: Teaching an elderly person to use sky stream
@gripfill2 the suggestions @CoffeeDrinker are good. Try sitting with them while they try to use the system to do what they want but let them make mistakes. If they ever get stuck simply hit the Home key as that should get them back to where they started.
As someone who, late one night, had to get out of bed, dress and visit an elderly neighbour who was panicking as she couldn't find the button to turn off her TV because she was holding the remote the wrong way round you have my sympathy. 😀

Re: Teaching an elderly person to use sky stream
Just thought I would update on my issue👍 I set up different sections in his play list and instead of names used sections "Films". "Documentaries""Gardening" etc. This allowed me to just get him used to moving to "Playlist" and making a choice from everything that I had stored in the different sections. This has made it less daunting and seems to be working really well👍As his confidence increases I am sure he will move into the wider options that Sky offer. I also set up "subtitles" in Settings so that they are permanently on. As a last option we have bought some wireless headphones which has made a huge difference. So all in all a great result👍
