Sly stream requires frequent restarts
I constantly have to restart my sky stream because it freezes and locks up on the home screen or more recently Netflix won't load films. And by restart I mean unplug it.
There's just constant issues with it, it feels as though the hardware isn't up to the job tbh.

Re: Sly stream requires frequent restarts
Hi @Sbl15789
I have 4 pucks and don't experience any issues. The symptoms you have described tend to happen due to poor connectivity between the puck and the router or poor internet speed.
What is your connection speed? And what is the puck receiving? If you open netflix, open the menu, scroll down and across to "get help" and "check your network". The general recommendation is connect via ethernet and turn off WiFi in puck settings will give a more stable experience.

Re: Sly stream requires frequent restarts
@Sbl15789 some of this post is already covered by @mikealanr but there are some additional points.
One of the main reasons for freezing is the quality and speed of the Wi-Fi signal being received at the TV/puck and not that being received at the router. This can be checked with the Netflix App (Get help > Check network) and is often much less than you might expect. The minimum speeds recommended by Sky are as follows:
HD = 25mbps
UHD = 30mbps
HD + 1 puck = 30mbps
UHD + 1 puck = 35mbps
If your speed at the TV is borderline try connecting via Ethernet cable. If this is not practical you can use powerline adapters (about £30 at Amazon). Note the Ethernet port on the Glass TV (& pucks) only supports 100mbps so don't waste money on the more expensive 1gb powerline adapters
If my post has solved your issue please mark as an "Answer" as it helps others identify the solution
If it has helped please give it a "Like"

Re: Sly stream requires frequent restarts
Connection speed is fine I have sky's gigafast connection speeds paired with an Archer AX1800.
Connection speed has nothing to do with the home menu just locking up and requiring a restart to make it work again.
Plus the apps constantly run like a snail, chugging along like they're running on a coal fired server.

Perfect description! Painfully slow sometimes.
