It was never pitched as an 'upgrade'. More as a no dish alternative.

Not really, to be honest. I don't expect my phone to have an FM radio in it just because one I had a decade or two ago did and I don't expect a modern TV to have SCART.

Things change and evolve, even if that means giving up a few things along the way.

That doesn't mean you have to be happy with the product, of course. Just pointing out it's not reasonable to expect all products to have everything their ancestors had.

But Smart connectivity is not out dated. Everything is smart enabled thase days.

Re: Sky stream is terrible and sub par

What do you mean by smart connectivity?

edit: saw your other post, sorry. I'm willing to bet almost nobody uses those features so they didn't bother to update them and I'm not sure any APIs were ever publicly documented.

Out of interest, what did you do with those features?

Re: Sky stream is terrible and sub par

I have my house run by Home Assistant,  which controls all my smart lighting and other devices. With an API on SkyQ you can control the boxes to turn on/off go to channel/app you want. So for example I have a routing where I press on button on my lounge and all the lights come on and depending  on time of day sets the brightness and turns tv and sky boxes in and sets them to the news in the morning and to the show we were watching the night before in the evening. With SKY Stream I have to use IR commands with a Harmony Hub to jump aroud the screen to guess where the right link is as they keep changing the UI layout which is terrible UI design.  You say no one uses the smart features, many forums and groups I'm on would disagree.

Re: Sky stream is terrible and sub par

This is the integration  that still works for SkyQ and had i known before that Stream didn't use the same i would not have swapped https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/sky_remote/

Not wanting to be unkind, but even the basic bit of research would have told you this.

Slow, laggy and sub par when compared to other streaming platforms.

The sky stream puck hardware isn't up to the lofty aspirations the sky software developers have.

As soon as I can, I will cancel it especially that NOW TV are moving to the superior Peacock platform.

Anyone feel the same?

No. I'm happy enough with it.

I think the UI is untouchable amongst other providers. It could be snappier to move around but it isn't a problem.

Was that in reply to me? In which case no, there was no research,  I got SkyStream when it very first came out, there was nothing to research  on it yet.

No idea who you're replying to either. Best to either quote the post, or tag (@) the poster.

@Mark39  It's would be useful if a reply to a post automatically tagged it with an at sign (@).  Maybe it's something that could be considered in the future

Re: Sky stream is terrible and sub par

I agree. Slow and laggy and useless switching between channels, waiting about 10s for each channel to load up. Same when press home button.

Tried both WiFi and ethernet cable, no changes. 350mbps showing on the netflix test and 1.6gbps internet - isn't an internet issue!

Lip sync useless, favourites doesn't work, won't record and voice remote.keeps turning off. Factory resets and resets make no difference.

Rant over but find this such a poor product.

Re: Sky stream is terrible and sub par

@coggers1980121 may I ask who your Internet provider is?

And when you do a speed test using a separate device does the speed fluctuate or sit aroundthe same speed?

My Internet provider is Sky and I only get 79mbps but have absolutely none of the issues you describe.

Re: Sky stream is terrible and sub par

I'm with EE, but use my own router

No issues whatsoever with any other devices. Firestick streams perfect, as do all other devices.

Just sky stream that has the issues. My 4 year old Nvidea Shield is better hardware than stream!

Re: Sky stream is terrible and sub par

Mines is absolutely fine and I have whole home and the boxes are running over a mediocre 4g connection. The only thing I find is over 4g it may take a second or two to load the channel listings. It's absolutely fine when connected to my fibre connection. I would say you either have a really bad connection or there is a deeper problem.
