@TimmyBGood Doesn't really matter what you can or cannot see, the fact is the legislation applies, you thinking that if Sky couldn't force people to stay they wouldn't do so tells me everything I need to know
Sky are well aware of this legislation and that's why people are leaving with no penalty or attempts to keep them to the contract, try doing that with a Sky Q box and you'll have no such luck
Sky are not doing this because they are an understanding and empathetic company, they are doing it because its law despite what you seem to think

Existing consumer rights protection ('as described' / 'of adequate quality' / 'fit for purpose') is not the same thing as the misinformation that a new automatic right to exit minimum term subscriptions was created prior to the last election: that's a myth which started circulating earlier in the year and, being untrue, isn't particularly helpful for people to pursue as an argument with a provider.
As I've said elsewhere, my personal theory is that Sky permits exit from Stream (but not Q) because the complete absence of in-premises installer support means they cannot be seen to adequately attempt to remedy issues which a particular user is experiencing, as is required by the actual longstanding legislation.

@TimmyBGood And as I've said your opinion means nothing , Sky let people exit with no penalty because thats the law, nobody cares what your personal theory is
Sky would never ever let a person leave their contract if they were not forced to
The ruling is valid and is all anyone needs if they would like to leave their contract, I'm afraid neither Sky nor your personal theory matters in this regard
Stop calling it untrue or invalid as it's neither !

Then where is this alleged right to exit a minimum term without reason actually written?
Any such fundamental revision to contract law would break multiple business models.
Leaving where a supplier cannot demonstrate they have made adequate attempts to remedy a problem is covered by the 2015 Act.

It's absolute dog **bleep**
you put things in a planner to watch later then you can't watch it

@TimmyBGood I was told by Sky executive team that the reasoning that Sky allow customers to leave sky stream penalty free 'in contract" was due to a legal issue.

I agree: I just think the law involved is long established consumer protection legislation.

@Jason+Golding it's only an issue for them, for everyone sick and tired of a sub par, substandard service it's no issue at all

I agree. I have been with Sky for decades and had all the similar products.
now I've gone sky stream it's absolutely rubbish. It sometimes freezes or I loose the signal and can't get it back on. It's so frustrating and especially why you pay £111 per month plus they are putting my prescription up by a nearly £10 per month. Am certainly going to look at cancelling.

@Mister_Dalek wrote:My experience was similar. We gave Stream a year but it was a constant state of one step forward, two steps back. Picture quality was great but reliability and stability just weren't good enough.
We've been without Sky since the beginning of the year and now use two Apple TV 4K boxes for 95% of our viewing. They've made watching TV a pleasurable experience once again.
The NOW app works well for any Sky content and our main TV has an aerial & USB flash drive attached so we can record & skip ads on any free to air TV if necessary.
Sky Stream would need to improve a LOT before I'd ever consider returning to Sky.
Do you have anything on sky store? I'm thinking of going the apple TV route but I have quite a few movies and stuff on sky store and wondering how I'd watch it

That app only works on iOS devices not tvOS unfortunately, and you cannot cast or use screen mirroring to watch via an Apple TV box.
If you have an LG TV there is a Sky Store app available for it.
It's one of the major negatives of purchasing content from Sky Store and why I stopped using it years ago.

We just got Sky Stream after 20 years of Sky+ & Sky Q. Sky stream is absolute rubbish. Don't waste your money on it. Hopefully we can cancel our subscription. Freezes all the time. Have to reboot it. If you can't reboot it you have to unplug it. We got Fibre connection & there is absolutely nothing wrong with the fibre connections. Just tried watching the Australian GP froze, lost 50% of the live race. Total crap. Do yourself a favour. Don't subscribe to Sky Stream. Goodbye Sky asap

@ossies there is a big difference between the internet speed you can get to your property and the speed you may be receiving via your WiFi network, this is because there are several factors (environmental and also based on the router hardware) will affect WiFi network performance.
Id suggest disabling the WiFi in the puck settings, using an Ethernet cable instead and rebooting the puck by turning it off at the plug for 2 minutes ( a reboot it required to ensure the WiFi is disabled).

Ethernet is connected directly from the router and its literally 300mm away. Its the Sky Puck is the issue, done everything to get it working, its garbage . As you see on here with other clients reviews. Total waste time and money.
