Re: Sky stream , honest review

It's frustrating because as i say,  Freely is slow and clunky and upgrades seem few and far between. For example when scrolling back the 7 day planner there is no "fast" key to get to the day you want. You literally have to keep pressing as the planner goes back program by program. If you're looking for something a few days ago it's painful. The suggested programs are generic, not user specific. There's no continue button. Good job it's free because you certainly would not pay for it. Are there any other broadband tv services available to try? I have no ariel, nor do i want one.

You could try an Apple TV box and add the TV Launcher app for a small fee. The app has a 7 day programme guide and, when a channel is selected, opens direct from the various broadcasters apps. If you have a Now sub, that will be included in the programme guide. It's a loose Stream type experience, but because everything streams from the box, as opposed to Sky's servers, you'll probably find it will be more stable. Another option is a Firestick which does pretty much the same thing. Of course don't expect instant channel change, even though all channels open direct from the various apps, it will be slower, and you can't hop from say BBC1 to ITV1 without reverting to the EPG. Horses for courses.

All very interesting. It's a shame that after years of relatively hassle free Sky Q, I now feel we have stepped back in time with Sky Stream. De-featured, unreliable and definitely not fit for purpose...

I regretted the move to sky glass, after a month or so. AdSkip should be free as we pay over the top for any package. Atmos should also be free as I dont think there is any difference between normal and atmos. The streaming service is ok I suppose but miss the record function to keep certain things.

I wish I had just got a PUC instead of the tv and kept SkyQ as a trial.

@Bkriescher  The rights and wrongs of having to pay for 'add on's' is a long debate with many different viewpoints.  In the end anyone entering a contract should know what they are getting or not getting.  What I don't understand is your view on recording programs.  As you no doubt know Stream doesn't record as such, but record is just a word, the Playlist keeps a record of programs and series you want to watch.  So let's say you wanted on your old system to record Stranger Things you would record the episode you want and then click 'series link'.   The Playlist is almost identical to that, you select the program you want to add to it, and it automatically saves the whole series.

Why Playlist is better is because you can set up just one for all your household to use or for just the programs you want to watch and other household members can have their own list.  In our household it is just myself and my wife so we have one for programs we both like to watch together, then another for programs I like and another for programs she likes.  We even have a fourth one for documentary style programs to seperate them from dramas etc. it is brilliant it is so versatile much better than the old record system.

Re: Sky stream , honest review

Playlist doesn't keep an accurate record of what you've watched, especially if you mix app viewing in too. I've often ended up watching the same show twice!

It'll also doesn't update instantly with new shows so if I get home and have missed my show it can sometimes take a while to show up in playlist.

There absolutely is in the mix and data stream, but without an Atmos speaker array (preferably with the height drivers actually above the listener) the audible difference may well be negligible.
