Re: Sky stream , honest review

Question, do you stream Netflix? It's the same as that!
Some have issues with Sky stream, I personally don't only that there is no sound sometimes but I turn it off and on by the remote which cures that.
You need a fast connection though upwards of 80mbps plus I wired mine with an Ethernet cable for reliability.
Hope that helps.

Re: Sky stream , honest review

You can fast forward...if you pay extra for that option!  I don't pay, as I don't mind watching adverts, to an extent!

With stream, if watching anything on playback you sit through 5 mins of ads, watch the program until the next lot of ads...watch them & then get sent back to the previous set of ads & have to watch them again too!

Fast forward to where you were, watch until the next set of ads & again, get sent back to the previous set of ads & have to watch them again!

During a long program, you end up on such a long delay that the program original time finishes...when you then get sent back to the previous ads, you can't fast forward to where you were as it just flips to the live program & you miss about 15 mins of what you were watching!!

Re: Sky stream , honest review

Everybody seems to insist that these problems with Stream exist because of a poor WiFi connection...I have fibre optic right up to my house, the fastest speed available & my puck is about 5m from the router...& It is ALL supplied by Sky!

It is the worst system I have ever encountered & my enjoyment of watching TV has diminished measurably since using this rubbish!

There is a difference between a fast connection and stable connection.

I have everything supplied by Sky...their fastest connection, supplied by fibre optic, right to the house & the puck is about 5m away, in the same room!

Everything else connected to the WiFi works fine, 95% of the time but my Stream is absolute sh1te...I really don't see who or what else I can blame, apart from the sub-standard system/kit supplied by Sky!!

"even the lip synch issue seems to have disappeared".

How did you manage to get rid of the sync issues?

The reason that that stregnth and stability of the internet connection is what is typically recommended first as the best thing to troubleshoot is that in the majority of the cases that is indeed in the cause and customers have success switching from Wifi to ethernet or vice versa. (ensuring that Wifi is disabled when trying to use ethernet as well).  There is a difference between the broadband speed and the strength and stability of a home Wifi network which catches customers out as due to the majority of the sky streaming platform running remotely from sky servers rather than locally on a puck it requires a strong and stable internet connection to ensure that the connection between the puck and sky's servers is maintained. What seems to happen when a puck drops its connection to a sky server it seems to more often that not crash the puck thus requiring a reboot to restore the connection ( rather than it being able to attempt to retry the connection for a short period to see if it can be re-established).

Obviously this isn't the cause of 100% of the issues but based on previous posts in this forum does appear to be the majority of them ( obviously sometimes the cause is specific to ISPs or faulty stream pucks/Glass TVs).

Unfortunately with these types of issues, as the error message and symptoms are quite generic there really isn't much of an option but to try the common solutions and troubleshooting steps to see if that does resolve an individual problem.

Standard routers provided by most ISPs do tend to be quite cheap and basic unfortunately which can have a negative impact on Wifi signal strength, particularly in some properties as there are many local evironmental factors which can be unique to an individual's home as to how much Wifi interference they are getting.

Re: Sky stream , honest review

Is there a set of instructions, somewhere on here, to follow & set up the Stream puck, to be running off the Ethernet cable only...I've fitted the cable but can't get the puck to work without the WiFi?

There's also a difference between decent equipment/systems & garbage equipment/systems, which in my opinion is what Sky use!

It seems to be the cheapest, nastiest rubbish they can get hold of & then wash their hands of any problems by saying "it's issues with your WiFi"!!

Hi @DazLad1  All you need to do it run the Ethernet cable from your router to your puck and turn off Wi-Fi in Settings > Network > Advance Settings.

You have point. People spend hundreds of pounds on a top range TV,  expensive surround amplifiers, then settle with the bog standard routers isp providers supply. There is a good case for shelling out a hundred quid or so for a far better router.

One of the reasons that I'll cancel at the end of the contract just happened for the umpteenth time, I tried to go back to the start of the programme on CH 409 , Sky Sports News and got the message that I need to upgrade to a premium channel even though I was watching it live.
Software error?

Re: Sky stream , honest review

So i have now had glass for a month now,  the TV itself is great but i am starting to wish i had never left Sky Q. Iknow that the point is that it is all about streaming and on demand, but from what i havde seen so far is all the programs available were on Q package which then brings me to the next major bug, adskip why the hell do you pay for that? Sky Q you download the program you want and then watch or record the program and then fast forward through the adverts so the why are they charging for a service that should be included for free.

To be honest save the money keep Sky Q if you have it and buy a TV from any good outlet that is UHD probably the same price.

One great thing about the TV is that the voice control is good not great as it doesnt always understand but is a good feature

I have been with Sky for over 20 years if they indeed listen at all to their loyal customers, Adskip should be free as well as the Atmos sysem which should also be unlocked for free

Re: Sky stream , honest review

Been watching the last of us on sky stream, when I click into the episode it changes to hdr10. The whole episode looks quite dark, when I exit the episode and go to main menu it's dark blue then changes to a brighter blue. Anybody have this or know what's going on??
