Re: Sky stream , honest review
@Super+Anthony don't hold your breath... (Removed) it will be years before they do any update & then they won't make it generally known.
By the time this update comes in, I'll hopefully be gone from Sky (Removed)

Re: Sky stream , honest review
just cancelled after coming from sky Q
stream needed direct connection to router otherwise it glitched
many sky cinema films advertised or suggested - I don't have sky cinema
every time I started it in the morning it would be on never mind the buzzcocks - I don't watch that
should be able to go to guide, apps, sports with a few clicks
pricing is just really annoying , new customers getting same packing £20 cheaper for a 24 month deal
seems the puck is really at it's limit and the interface needs to allow customisation to make it useful
lost £150 million last year, will there be money for new developments

Not once the broadcast satellites aren't there any more, which is likely to be the case before 2030.

Re: Sky stream , honest review
My puck works better on ethernet with WiFi turned off. I did a lot of testing on WiFi but it just didn't like it when anything else started using some bandwidth and slowed down the connection. On ethernet it's been rock solid with no glitches, even though the speed is capped at about 82Mbps due to the lack of gigabit ethernet port.

Re: Sky stream , honest review
- Have mine about a fortnight now and its such a simple hassle-free experience. Picture quality is really fantastic, zero buffering so far (I'm on 5G wifi) the UI I guess is a little convoluted but thats to be expected these days, my favourite feature is the voice command - just name the channel or tv-show and up it pops almost instantly. I really can't fault it and would highly reccommend it to anyone who is a casual tv viewer and doesn't want the hassle of a dish. And at €5.50 per week (Netflix included), you can't really complain!

Re: Sky stream , honest review
In on sky Q at the moment (£59pmwith sky sports ) conract up on Jan 10 and not renewing it as they want to increase it hideously, so I'm looking at sky stream as I've a 500 mbs connection , im reading some horror stories about on trust pilot how bad it is , but is that maybe ppl with mediocre speeds , think ill try out 31day rolling which i know you have that option to get out in the first month , but also in the forthcoming months ahead if it turns out to be rubbish .

Re: Sky stream , honest review
@Freddy1000 although having decent broadband is important its the reliability of tge WiFi in your home or the ability to use Ethernet cables tomthe pucksthat is crucial. With either of those in mybrxperience Stream is as least as reliable as Sky Q.

Re: Sky stream , honest review
I've had mine for a month and regret ever changing to it.. we like to leave our TV on during the day to give our parrot something to watch and listen to. However, the sky stream goes into standby after about 4-5 hours and there is not an option to turn this off ..
I've "recorded" 4 sport programmes since we started and one it didn't "record" at all .. 1 was fine ... and the other 2 OMG... recorded both to playlist, however on playback( this is for both) it played 28 seconds, screen goes black for a couple of seconds and then picture comes back having skipped another 12 seconds...and repeat again and again and again..can't wait to get rid of this.. picture quality I can't deny is very good, I have had on numerous occasions the picture doesn't match the the sound ,only way I could get this back to normal was to turn it off and on again, just another annoyance, that shouldn't be..

Re: Sky stream , honest review
@Sthoot unfortunately all modern set top boxes have to incorporate power saving features one of which is to go into standby after a period with no input from the remote.

Re: Sky stream , honest review
Hi Chrissie
But it's nice to have the "option" to keep standby off... fine for most people but alas not for me. I note you didn't mention the very real problems with the playlist "record" feature. A success rate of 25% is hardly a feature worthy of the name... Until all these very real and very irritating glitches are sorted out ..I for one will certainly not be going there again and the fact sky are aware of these problems ..well that just makes it even worse in my eyes... sorry..ranting🙄

Re: Sky stream , honest review
It's not convenient if you watching a program and after a period you have to pick up the controller and wave it. For someone who is neurodivergent, it disturbs one's concentration. Sky needs to be more aware of this and hoping the standby can be an option for people with disabilities
