That kind of message is usually when a TV is looking for Freeview reception via an aerial, not for a signal from an HDMI source.
Is your TV perhaps defaulting to its internal Freeview tuner on startup and you don't have an aerial attached? Try re-selecting the HDMI input you have the Stream puck attached to using your TV's remote controller (not the Stream remote).
