@GD1 (Removed)
Stream was sold originally as requiring a minimum broadband speed of 10 Mbps and it certainly was the case when I BOUGHT my puck.
It actually uses around 8 Mbps of bandwidth in HD according to many who have tested it, me included.
The increase in recommended speed was nothing to do with a change in technology but backside covering by Sky to allow for a typical home environment.
What is does need is a stable stream which is not always the case over WiFi irrespective of the home's incoming internet connection speed.

I also read on screen the broadband needs refreshing on homepage so I pressed the home button via controller and it seems fine wasn't sure if it was the hub needs restarting

This just proves my point and it's exactly what I'm worried about. The technology is not reliable or maybe the technology is reliable but the broadband structure in this country is not good enough yet. That's exactly the point. I have been trying to make sky need to rethink this whole strategy It's unfair to force people to switch from satellite TV to broadband based system when it's not reliable I am dreading the day that the satellites are switched off because I love to watch my TV and my experience is going to be exactly like this customer has stated I have written an email yesterday to the managing director of sky Ireland Mr JD Buckley expressing my fears and worries about this whole thing. Here's hoping I get a reply. I know most people on this forum think I'm fighting a losing battle and that the changes will happen whether we like it or not but it's not just me. I've been speaking to a number of my friends today who are also sky customers and they don't think that it's fair the whole strategy of switching from satellite to broadband needs to be thought about again. I'm probably going to get replies from people saying that nothing can be done about it, but I don't believe that

They should at least make the alternative sky glass have the ability to record programs. I was considering switching to that because of the change that's coming but having read up on it I definitely will not be because I like the ability no scratch that I love the ability to be able to record TV programmes that was the best thing about sky Q and sky plus now not alone are they getting rid of satellite TV but they're also getting rid of the ability to record pause and rewind programs that is a disgrace I realise that it's happening yes but if they modified sky glass slightly and put the ability to be able to record programs as part of the device it might persuade me but as it stands it's completely and no runner for me

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Dobber1234 unfortunately that would require the consent of those who create tv content. And that's unlikely to be forthcoming as, increasingly, they prefer to have control over their own content, rather than devolve control to viewers. Progress is not always good for the end user.
