Why have Sky ordered my pucks to be delivered weeks before my installation date?

You don't need to wait for Sky broadband to be installed to start using them, and Sky won't hold them until broadband is activated.
The installation of broadband can't be done next day.

As @GD1 indicates, Sky aims to deliver pucks 'next day' from warehouse stock, as shown on the product web page and in its advertising.
Broadband activation (including switching ISP) has a minimum ten working day lead time: that's an Openreach standard.

Unfortunately Sky doesn't do a particular good job of informing new customers that Sky Stream (television) and Sky Broadband (internet) are completely different things, even if ordered together.
Note there's no installation service for Stream: that's a DIY job. Broadband may or may not require installer attendance depending on the technology being ordered and what's already at the address.

@dfu14 How many weeks are there to your BB installation?
What sort of BB service do you currently have?
Will your current BB service be adequate to support Sky Stream?
