I am changing from Virgin to Sky Stream , can I use the external Virgin box to thread the Openreach cables needed for Sky TY

If you are getting full fibre it will be a completely different installation to your existing Virgin setup.
The only thing they may use is the same hole in the wall to bring the fibre cable into your home.
You will then have a new termination point (ONT)
Discuss where you want this with the installer on the day.

Sky Stream doesn't use any external cables. If you placed an order for Sky Broadband at the same time as ordering Stream, that's separate process.
Whether an Openreach installer is prepared to use an existing opening is up to them: I suspect they won't remove Virgin cabling.
