That does indeed seem to have done the trick, on all 3 of mine.

Odd. I've come downstairs this morning and Bluetooth power up is no longer working.
I'll stick to IR for the time being. It's not too much of an inconvenience.

Mine is still fine this morning

Followed the steps last night and remote started turning on the puck using BT and still does so this morning.
So far so good, thanks @KevNewMedia

@Kempston That happened with my setup as well - try resetting the remote (pressing 7 & 9 for 3 secs odd) and then set up the BT again (1 & 3) - has worked with no problem since 😁

Morning.
All three of mine remain working via Bluetooth (BT) this morning, following the guidance yesterday evening.
What id like to know now is the mechanics of what went wrong and why two restarts within certain timeframes ended up fixing quite a serious issue?
Glad its sorted for now, so thanks for that.
All we need nowcis an API access to the pucks and a mobile remote control app for the phones.......?

As mentioned in the post marked as answered, the issue was seemingly the remotes not updating to the correct remote firmware version. The process outlined with the restart and leaving the puck on for 15 minutes, as outlined in the answered post, is a way of forcing the remote's firmware to update.

I can confirm that the fix is working for me as well. Although, I had to repeat the process twice; it didn't work the first time for some reason.
Looks like the remote received two separate updates:
5103.2.4 -> 5103.3.4 -> 5103.4.2 (this is the version I have atm).
The power up is not instant, it looks like it is not doing anything for a couple of seconds, then it sparks into life.

@highr where can I check the remote version?

also noticed that all pucks are showing that they have a 'software update in progress' that seems to be never ending

Find out more@Ian131 I assume your puck is on QS024, if so you can ignore the continue software update message when you highlight the build version as this is a known bug and it is not actually updating. This bug has been fixed in the QS025 which has just started rolling out in batches (mine updated a couple of days ago).

After 2 months of working absolutely fine, my sky stream tv remote has stopped working. I have replaced the batteries but the backlight still doesn't appear after clicking buttons on the remote, very disappointing.
I have already filled out the form to request a new remote but does anyone know how long it takes to receive a new remote? Or is there any hack to get my remote working again? Sky stream is the only device I use to watch tv so it's very annoying that a faulty remote is making this impossible.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@CAntignani The remotes usually arrive within a couple of days according to previous posts.
To get your old one working again you could try holding the remote at both ends and giving it a gentle twist as though you were wringing out a cloth. Even though it sounds an unlikely solution it has got many faulty remotes working again (including mine on two occasions).
Also if by chance you have an old Sky Q remote available you can pair that to your stream puck. It's actually much better than the Stream remote.

It took 3 days for my replacement to arrive. Sky quoted 3-5 days.
The "wring/twist" method worked on my old remote, bizarrely 🙂
Not all Sky Q remotes are compatible. My early "touch" remote would not work well with Stream. If you have a later version that does not have the touch feature, you could be in luck.
