Sky Stream - No VIP offers or Benefits vs SkyQ

Being a Sky Diamond VIP member, I often got offers on the likes of Sky Cinema for £9 on a 30-day rolling contract, which was ideal for the holiday period, since I work away a lot.

It seems that VIP is non-existent on Sky Stream and Glass.  I had a Sky Customer service representative admit to this on a recent call.  All offers in Sky VIP only apply to Sky Q, regardless of your VIP tier.

Well, that’s a kick in teeth.  Looks like another incentive NOT to move to Sky Stream.

That's not entirely correct: all the non-bundle incentives, competitions, prize draws, giveaways, cinema and sports tickets etc are there in the VIP section of the My Sky app.

Sky Glass in particular was always intended to offer simple and predictable pricing which could be easily advertised rather than the myriad time-limited 'discounts' and 'offers' so prevalent on the satellite platforms, although this has subsequently drifted away from the table included in the 'Glass Reviewer's Guide' in October 2021

@gordym

When I tried to cancel Stream completely I was offered a half price subscription, allegedly partly due to being a 'Diamond VIP' but it's all marketing nonsense really.

You always usually get offered some sort of incentive to remain a customer, so the trick is to threaten to leave, that's what's happened in my experience anyway.

I got told this too when I'm on my third sky glass tv. However it's down to the sky glass build that it's already incorporated into lower pricing for the sky tv and entertainment + Netflix combo anyway.

If you price match you'll not be comparing accurately with glass and Q.

Additionally, there is deals to be found if you enquire / look hard enough.

What started as a no discounts available approach has gone now.

I've had 2 'come back' offers for Stream, with the most recent offer being for a total of £40 a month off the full retail price of everything except for kids and BT Sport.

I changed from Q to stream saved £30 with the same packages (well the equivalent ones) and got a small 18 month discount on cinema.

Re: Sky Stream - No VIP offers or Benefits vs SkyQ

I was paying £64.50pm for Sky Q & Sky Broadband before my switch to Stream.

I had Signature, HD, UHD, & Netflix Premium (no sports, no cinema, no kids) and the broadband was Sky Superfast with Boost. (80/20 Mbps).

I now pay £41.25pm for Sky Stream & Community Fibre broadband.

I have Entertainment, Netflix Premium, UHD/Atmos & ad skipping on Stream (no sports, no cinema, no kids) for £22.50pm and the broadband is full symmetrical FTTP (500/500 Mbps) at £18.75pm.

I'm much happier paying £23.25pm less than I was this time last year. The broadband in particular is spectacularly good value.

Re: Sky Stream - No VIP offers or Benefits vs SkyQ

There is absolutely no benefit whatsoever for higher tier levels in the VIP status levels. ALL customers, no matter what tier they are on get exactly the same access to the available rewards e.g Silver VIP gives you exactly the same access to those offered to Diamond VIP. The tier level is very misleading to all customers because in effect THERE IS NO LOYALY scheme. I would like to communicate to the Sky CEO about this. I also intend to contact the ombudsman to see if anything can be done. Personally I think the VIP scheme should be scrapped. It is a devised plan, designed to give members the impression that there are increased reward benefits the higher the tier you are on. Don't be fooled. Sky have taken a cynical approach. They are deliberately  misleading customers in a despicable manner. I am appalled by their manipulation and dishonesty and I feel strongly that they should be challenged fot their dishonesty by higher authorities.
