UHD sport stuttering

As a previous reply answer has suggested possibly the puck cache just simply fills up and doesn't clear itself and it can't handle the data overflows as a result. "Maybe" is my reply I have rebooted many times, it does work occasionally but mostly rebooting the puck makes absolutely no difference. If Sport UHD was a direct feed I might say that there is a massive lack of bandwidth in the modulated 4k Sky Sports Stream but I don't believe the the Sky engineers do not know what the problem is

As a former Stream customer, I left because of the high price not because of UHD picture quality on live football or F1.

So here's a suggestion to those suffering with flaky pucks (warning: not cheap).

What I did was subscribe to Now TV for a couple of months alongside my Stream subscription to compare them.

I would play live UHD sport on both Stream and Now TV (Roku 4K) and switch HDMI ports to compare. 

My son and I agreed we couldn't see any difference in the picture quality. Maybe Now TV was a little further behind Stream by a few seconds but otherwise identical.

Convinced we could live without Sky's UI or playlist, I submitted a cancellation of Stream via email.

Currently pay £34 pm for ALL Now TV subscriptions including Ultra Boost/  UHD. This means I can watch live football and F1 judder free in 4K on other TVs in the house.

I am finding sky more and more frustrating . Not only did they lie about getting an engineer to me they now haven't kept to their own deadline. I speak with sky priority they can't do anything and I mean anything to fix it. The girls tell you one thing and then back office another . A disrespectful firm if ever I saw one and lying just isn't on. Now they put phone down and won't pick up great firm . Avoid avoid avoid

I get this juddering occasionaly - I believe it's because the Sky puck or infrastructure is junk - and they love to blame our WIFI.

I don't get any problems with my other streaming devices.

Things are ok then they are not ok with so many aspects of Sky Stream.

I will be ditching in New Year as just want to switch the box on and watch tv - without having to do power cycles or even factory resets.

I'm ditching in new year too. Going to use the apps on the smart TV and get some other subscription - probably Now TV.

They won't do anything until they loose customers. We have plenty of choice out there and better means to access it.

Completely agree @NickJJ . The puck is very much below the standard that is required at present, though I am going to still try and be patient. Like you as well, my WiFi and broadband is excellent and with a top provider so it's simply nothing to do with our set up. Also all my other gadgets work perfectly fine

Sharing my feedback - I had consistent issues watching live football on UHD and was never really happy with the sound output as much of the settings on my system ended up sounding unrealistic and intrusive. I was assuming that fixes to audio settings suggested by others would have no impact on the picture quality as games stuttered constantly... then I tried the suggested fix...

By changing the sound setting to "pass through" on the sky box, everything got better. Awesome sound and perfect picture. I no can now guess that the intense pressure of expecting Sky Puck to sort out Dolby Atmos and then my own system to do the same job was creating a conflict which possibly puts unnecessary pressure on everything and causes interference. By moving the processing further down the signal path, the problem is solved for me.

I have been patient for 18 months but I'm totally sick of it saying there's no Wi-Fi (I'm connected through Ethernet), waiting for prog to load, juddering on UHD) and all the other issues shown on this Forum, (Sky expect us to support this junk for them) Sometimes I have to restart box numerous times before anything works. 

I will use Now on my smart tv and I have an Amazon Stick and Z10 for other streaming - which never have issues with network.

I have a sky puck in 3 rooms. The only channel that stutters and suddenly fast forwards on all three is Sky Sports UHD. It doesn't happen on any other UHD transmission. TNT sports UHD is perfect. Its dammed  annoying when you pay good money for the sports package. It's been doing it since I had the pucks 3 years ago. My internet connection is Sky 500 so no issue with stream power. What's going on Sky. Should I be having a refund for sub-standard equipment and putting up with it for 3 years?

ChatGPT is interesting. Concludes irs the Puk hardware that's the issue, which makes sense. Tried wired and Wi-Fi connection but UHD football keeps buffering and stuttering, it's rubbish. F1 is fine as it's darts.  Disney and Netflix work seemlessly from my TV. Sky need to upgrade the box, ideally with a firmware update to fix. 

just to note, my internet speed >200 mbps so it's not my broadband at fault, it's the **bleep** hardware from sky.

That is very interesting re Chat GPT and supporting that what we are saying and seems to conclude as well that the puck is insufficient in the current state @Mark_blue_nose 

I sympathise with you as well @NickJJ as I have also had the puck for a while and it's very frustrating that we still have issues and we keep being told that it's the set up at home and nothing to do with Sky!!!
