Sky Stream issues.
I get this message several times a week.
HDCP unauthorised. Switch off your TV at the socket for at least one minute, then switch it back on.
Plus handshake issues.
I have a 4K Samsung S95B smart TV bought in January.
I also have a Sony HT-A9 Dolby Atmos sound system. As this it is connected via the arc hdmi it should connect automatically (with the tv) when I turn on the sky stream box.
Whilst the Sony box lights up the sound does not come through.
I normally have to restart the Sky stream box to get sound.
I have recently moved over from Sky Q to this new Stream box.I am getting hassle from my wife over it now.
She is questioning why we changed from Q (which was easier to navigate) to set a set up that we have mess around with whenever we switch on.
I am trying to be patient as it is new technology and I am hoping updates might improve things.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks
Mike

Have you checked if the TV has any software updates available?
Also have you tried a different HDMI cable?
Thanks,
Tim

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Mike+Led Sorry to hear about your problems. I don't know if this will help with your specific issues but I found turning off all the gimmicks in the Startup & standby helped reduce the issues that I had. The only one I left turned ON is the "Network standby mode" option. Since doing that I have a fairly stable setup.
Also if you are using Wi-Fi you would be better off connecting the puck to your router with an Ethernet cable. If this is not practical then you can use powerline adapters which you can get from Amazon for about £35. If you go down this route don't waste money on a Gigabit version as glass/stream only supports 100mbps (which is more than enough)
I hope this helps.

Stream has well documented issues with HDMI CEC control. It caused endless issues with my ARC connected amp when I first connected my puck to my system. I had to purchase a CEC blocker in order to get functionality back for my other devices. Sky have apparently improved the CEC control since then but others have still reported it still causing problems and I have kept the blocker in place.
This could be the source of your problems.
In all honesty, ask yourself the question of why you switched from Q to Stream. As you've realised, Q is a much more stable and, in many ways, more versatile system, whereas Stream is still very much in its infancy and finding its feet.
Personally I find Stream unusable as a direct replacement for Q - it still has far too many issues. I use my puck as a glorified NOW TV box, only turning it on to view Sky-specific content (which is becoming increasingly rare.)
It works for many people - and I'm sure it'll get better, but if you want an easy life, and want to keep the wife happy, it might be worth considering reverting back to Q because nothing happens quickly with Sky and it may be some time (years) before Stream grows in stability & reliability.

Thanks Tim
My Tv Firmware is up to date.
My Sony system and the Sky Stream puck said only use their HDMI cables.I have now fitted Amazon basics 2.1 HDMI 64 gb cables and so far it is working better.
Part of the reason for changing from Q to stream was to promise of better picture
quality. As I have a cutting edge tv this made sense.I have Virgin broadband with 280 mb speed which is connected with Ethernet cable so that side of things should be all good.
I was also finding I was getting a few issues with Sky Q 2tb but it might have been because my box was getting old.
Getting lip sync right was becoming a regular problem. The remote would become unresponsive at times or have about a 15 second delay from commands (with new batteries).
The whole screen would just freeze sometimes requiring a reboot.
Thanks to everyone for the feedback I will see how it goes.
Can there be any issues long term not using the approved leads?
Thanks
Mike

Thanks for weighing in on the advice.I am now using 2.1 HDMI 64 gb leads. This does not seemed to have helped with my Sony system activating fully.I have not heard of this CEC blocker you mentioned do you think this would help?
Thanks
Mike

Sorry for the delay in reply.
Good to hear a different HDMI has solved the issue. There shouldn't be any risk in using different HDMI cables. I believe in Sky's case they say to use that cable supplied because its new and compatible instead of some who might say be changing from Sky+ and just use the old cable.
Thanks,
Tim

Here is a link to the CEC blocker which I use to help with a similar issue that I was having with my stream puck connected to a Denon amp.

That's the one I bought too. Sky even refunded me the cost of it due to the issues the puck caused to my system.

Thanks for that link but I am not sure what it does or which device to plug it into.
These are my connections at the moment.
Sky Stream to tv HDMI 1
Blueray player to tv HDMI 2
TV HDMI 3 e ARC. to Sony HT -A9
Where would the adapter go?
Thanks
Mike

Connect the blocker to the HDMI port on the puck itself, then plug the HDMI cable that you have connected to HDMI 1 on the TV into the blocker.
All it does is prevent any stray CEC signals being sent out of the puck which can interfere with other devices. It still allows all video and audio signals to be carried to the TV.

Thanks for that👍

Hi I got the blocker and connected it as you suggested.
Now when I turn on Sky Stream nothing else comes on.I am not sure what it is supposed to be doing?
Should I be connected my equipment up in a different way?
Thanks
Mike

That's the point of the CEC blocker - it stops the signals being sent to the TV to turn other devices on. The CEC control in Stream pucks does not function correctly for many people and instead interferes with other devices connected to the TV. The blocker stops this happening but does mean you can't turn everything off and on with the puck remote.
The pucks are very cheaply made - they're not high spec A/V devices.
