Pause tv- within 10 minutes the sky pluck turns itself off
When I pause live tv it only pauses for 10 minutes then sky turns itself onto standby, I then have to turn it back on and loose what I was watching. Can't rewind it as it had turned off. Only happens with live tv - nit recorded programs or apps. Any ideas? Thanks

Re: Pause tv- within 10 minutes the sky pluck turns itself off
Ultimately thats seemingly one of the "eco friendly" features of Sky Stream and Glass. Unfortunately there is nothing in the settings to change the power saving mode timelines.
You may find it happens when you pause on some apps as well. I've notice it doesn't do this when on all apps, but it does on some. I'm assuming its related to how the device thinks its being actively used or not, and perhaps when some apps are open all it can deem is that a user is actively watching it, even though it may be paused.

Possibly Sky trying to save on wasting server disk space?
A lot of customers pausing for long periods of time would waste a lot of disk space.🤔
Sky think you can watch from start😉

Re: Pause tv- within 10 minutes the sky pluck turns itself off
The power saving is part of an EU directive that says it has to power off "in a reasonable amount of time" when idle.
The debatable part to me is what is deemed reasonable. Sky clearly seem to think it's 10 mins.

Malicious compliance to a directive is useful for saving on disk usage😉

There is a Sleep Timer feature in Settings -> Start up and standby. But think it's usual state is 'Off'.
have you got your Sky Puck connected to a TV with a soundbar? Some Soundbars have a 10 minute standby mode if it perceives no signal (even though there is). Think my dads soundbar used to turn itself off if left in Mute mode for too long. Reason why I ask this is that the soundbar going off could also tell your tv and connected devices to turn off with it. Just a thought.

Thank you - that makes total sense as I do have a sound bar- I'm going to look into that. Think that could be the issue. Thanks 😊

@Karinamcl was your soundbar turning the puck off?

Re: Pause tv- within 10 minutes the sky pluck turns itself off
I've just carried out an experiment. I've paused live tv my Sky glass so I can see what happens.....
OK it's been 30 minutes and every 10 minutes the message comes on screen that sky will turn off if I don't pick up my remote. So I picked up the remote and the tv stays paused. Did this 2 times and when the 3rd time was due the tv just started playing on it's own.
So from my extensive scientific research I can deduce that when live tv is paused you have ten minutes to get back to your remote to give it a wobble so the TV stays paused. You need to do this again on 20 minutes. And at 30 minutes the pause buffer is full and the TV plays.
We need a cradle that rocks our sky remote to be able to keep the tv paused for 30 minutes.
The end.

On my Sky Stream Puck I don't get a warning every ten minutes like you say you do on the Sky Glass. Maybe that's more a Glass TV standby warning than channel pause warning ? Just a thought.
The 30 minute pausing limit is the same though. Very annoying. Was always an hour on my sky+ box. So because of this if I know I'm going to be distracted by a phone or zoom call or something for more than half an hour I tend to just add the program to my playlist and watch from there later.

I did my experiment using a puck although it is in a sky glass set up. Sky really need to address this.

Does that work for sports like F1 - it seems to have funny rules around playback, such as not being available on catch for ages after the program ends.
This 10 min pause sucks!

@Karinamcl your puck will give you a warning every hour or so to check if you're still watching if you haven't moved the remote. When the warning pops up, you just need to give the remote a jiggle
